Blood Iron Hall

Home of the recently renamed Blood Iron Dwarves, Blood Iron Hall is the only major settlement this kingdom of dwarves has on the surface.

Its ancestral name, Khomgarohm, means "come gather", as this is where the ancient mountain dwarf clans joined forces against the mighty ogre forces of Borog.

Government

The government is an autocracy, with the Bloodthane clan at the top. Nuraraam Bloodthane is current head of the clan, ruling with a council of advisers underneath him.

Infrastructure

Bloodthane Citadel is the most prominent feature of the city. Built right in to the basin cliffs, it stands high above the rest of the city, and is only accessible though an internal elevator that is guarded by a smaller keep at the base.
The city is built up in three tiers.
Lowton, the lowest and largest tier of the city, is where the merchants and outsiders live. This is also where Blood Iron outcasts are resigned to live, having been banished from the upper tiers.
Midton, the second tier, is where the bourgeoisie of the Blood Iron live. The districts are separated by clan;

• Battlecoat: The Battlecoats are the guards of the royal family. The active guardsmen from this clan move into barracks in the Citidel in five year rotations.

• Ironbrow: The smiths and engineers of the Blood Iron, the Ironbrow were originally Hill Dwarves. However, their relationship with the Bloodthane clan goes back millennia, and as such they have been thoroughly integrated into Blood Iron society.

The Red Keep, the topmost tier, is the keep which guards the entrance to Blood Iron Hall proper. Residence here is limited strictly to the guardsmen and those who tend to them.

The Citadel proper is home to the Bloodthanes, the ruling clan of the Blood Iron Dwarves. As of late, no one has been allowed entrance, nor an audience with Nuraraam Bloodthane. Rumors abound, but no one knows for sure why the Citidel has been closed off from outsiders.
It is built from large red stones quarried out from the mine complexes below the city.
