Malvan

The oldest of the Marches and one of the two realms that could reasonably be said to be successor states of the old Nevarine Empire, Malvan considers itself the heir to the legacy of the great empresses of the past and venerates the icons as a result. Malvan used to be a much more meritocratic empire, with a heavily centralized government based in Malvas. However with the invasion of the Bagdud, Malvan lost two-thirds of its territory, including the capital of Malvas, to either Orcish tribes or rebellious Marches to the west. Hemmed in by rebellious vassals and migrating tribes, Malvan has had to change it’s governance to be much more decentralized and reliant on local dynasts to survive, causing some critics to call the move a betrayal the Empire's legacy.
