Lameravis Character in Arrhynsia | World Anvil

Lameravis (Lah-mer-us)

God of the Elves before the Betrayal, the first gods - the Voices - selected from amongst the races of Arrhynsia a people to themselves. Lameravis was a Voice, obsessed with beauty and harmony, who chose the elves for himself and shaped them into lovers of harmony and beauty. He spent endless hours and power seeking and enhancing the beauty of the world around him, and seemed oblivious to the darker side of the creation. This obliviousness cost him and his people dearly as he was slain through treachery by his intimate follower, by some legends his most beautiful lover, Larisa, who afterwards took the form of a monster and the nameĀ Ligeoa or "the Caller".   The Six consorts of Lameravis in the order they joined with him were:
  1. Saimon, Father of Civilization
  2. Hyadilith, the White Lady
  3. Murdu, Lord of the Sword
  4. Ancyia, Queen of Ways
  5. Naanam, the Teacher
  6. Larisa, the Believer
It is clear that Lameravis encouraged competition for his attention between the females within the Six. He played favorites between them and encouraged them to curry his favor with gifts and service which he received with unreliable pleasure. Destabilized by competition to please the god, the goddesses amongst the Six fell into fierce rivalry which led ultimately to the Betrayal.   It is not well understood exactly whether Lameravis was killed or destroyed at the Betrayal and what the nuance would be. What is recorded in The Dawn of the Gods is that "Lameravis was made to be no more." The loss of their Voice and of the Six destroyed the nation of Dryadae and dealt the elves a crushing blow. While they remain what Lameravis shaped them to be, lovers of beauty and harmony, the essence of the elven nature has been warped into an existence familiar with pain and dissonance, and lacking in focus and purpose.
