Zayth Tcheor

Structure

Zayth Tcheor is admisnistrated by the Hunter in Chief (Liɮ Têadch), who is generally regarded to be the most skilled hunter of the Redwoods. They are elected by the public and have to prove their skill by completing three challenges all related to hunting.
If one of the hunters (or anyone really) thinks they are more skilled than the current hunter in chief, they can challenge for the title and the hunter in chief is obligated to accept and compete with the challenger in three predetermined challenges and a jury, chosen from the public at random, will decide the winner.
The Hunter in Chief has their special guard of hunters who function not only as guardians of the Light House (ʒui fez), but also as the Hunter in Chief's personal troup of hunters, tasked with hunting special creatures. The Captain of the Red Guard (Zayth Nezeoz) also functions as the Hunter in Chief's personal advisor.
Next to the Hunter in Chief, there is the High Priest*ess (Tsʰetsh Tao̯n), the Head Healer (Da Duichadz), Arch Magician (Tsuz Chêvadz), and the Master Artisan/Crafter (Üeh Kavadz), who all take an advisory role and regularly hold council with the Hunter in Chief, to discuss the needs of their respective branches. They are like ministers in a way.

Culture

In Zayth Tcheor Hunting is King, since the Redwoodelves are exclusively carnivorous.
Then there are healers, who are held in great esteem as well, especially the Duichadz, who are counted among the elite together with the Red Guard and other hunting squads.
Another big emphasis is put on the bloodrunes and the magic that comes with them. They are sacred but also tainted because of the way they were obtained. Thus, magic users and the clerus are admired but also feared a little, or at least there is great respect for them but people generally don't want to come too close to either of them. That is despite the fact that many magic users and acolytes are also scholars who often teach the children in school.
They are, nevertheless, seen as a different social class, not quite an elite and not quite a marginalised minority, but some weird mix of the two that is revered and kept at a distance at the same time.
The last and biggest group of Redwoodelves are the artisians/crafters. Some of them are held in high esteem as well, but most of them are regarded as just normal, the broader public and that even though they are the most diverse group of people, ranging from artists and bards to leatherworkers and carpenters, cooks and tailors.

Art:
The Redwoods don't have a big visual arts scene. Many buildings are adorned with beautiful carvings or plant murals, but otherwise there isn't much going on.

Music:
Their singers use many musical scales and complicated singing techniques. Chanting is also used in their religious worship.
Architecture:
Zayth Tcheori architecture, although similar to Estirian architecture, is quite distinct and well-known. Their wooden platforms interconnected with bridges, ropes and ladders are quite characteristic, as well as their wooden buildings who are held in red, orange, yellow and brown tones, with the exception of religious and magical buildings, which are held in burgundy to purple tones.

Public Agenda

Zayth Tcheor has no public agenda except to stay away from the public and avoid conflict if possible.

Assets

Lumber, various animals and all their byproducts, fabric made from a special type of moss and special hunting equipment.

History

The History of the Redwoods is an ugly and bloody one. Once the woodelves in need of less hostile territory had found the strange forest of entirely red-leafed trees, they settled in it not knowing what consequences they would suffer.
Magic in the Redwoods is exceptionally strong and powerful, and thus the woodelves began to change. In a gruesome and painful process they grew horns. They lost all their teeth and almost starved before they regrew razor sharp and pointy. Their hair turned red in all shades of the trees and they started hearing a calling. From the heart of the forest it seemed to come, a whisper demanding blood.
This led to the bloodrune wars, for it was discovered that when an elf is killed, their blood spells out a sigil or rune that has magical properties and can be used to manipulate magic. A horrendous slaughtering among kin began to harvest the power of the bloodrunes and only near anihilation made them stop.
After that the survivors spent a long time repenting for what they had done and isolated themselves from the rest of the world.
The magic of the bloodrunes became a treasured but stained secret of the Redwoods that could never reach others. This is among the chief reasons why the Redwood Elves are so reluctant to nurse any foreign relations.
They lived in relative quiet until the fifth age, when the Redwoods fell victim to the raging Magic Wars and the Redwood Elves had to defend their homeland. Salvaging what they could from the smoldering ruins, they rebuilt and reinforced border control even more.

Demography and Population

Zayth Tcheor is exlusively inhabited by Redwood Elves and a variety of animals. They are very strict with letting people into their country for the long term, because magic is so strong they can't guarantee for the safety of anyone not born in the Redwoods and thus used to it. Being cautious of their bloody and tragic history they want to avoid a repetition of the blood rune wars and thus prefer staying among themselves.
The Redwood Elf population has been counted at 27'518 people.

Territories

Zayth Tcheor lays claim to the entirety of the Redwoods and they have been there for some 15'000 years. Thus the territory is regarded as ancestral, especially because no one had lived there before, and no one dares contest them for the territory, not that anyone would have reason to in the first place. The only time that happened was during the magic wars in the Age of Fury.

Military

Zayth Tcheor doesn't employ any military in the traditional sense of it. Rather they have hunters who also protect the borders and are trained in combat. There is a unit patrolling the ground, which is the largest one, a unit patrolling the middle layers of the trees, and a guard for the Top Layer, where the most important buildings are. This is done by the Red Guard.

Technological Level

Zayth Tcheor is a magic heavy country with not that much technology going on. They are rqther advanced in wood- and leatherworking and making fabric and they have great healers as well as hunters, but many of their problems are solved with magic.

Religion

The Zayth Tcheori only believe in one god: The Red God of Death that gave them the Blood Runes at an unimaginable cost. They regard their deity as ambivalent and in need of sedation, it is a fierce, wrathful deity most of the time, but it can also be merciful.

Foreign Relations

Zayth Tcheor's foreign relations are practically nonexistant. They have loose relations wit Estira, as they still view the Estirian Woodelves as their cousins, and some relations with Tilvin, whom they occasionally trade with, but its mostly knowledge, not goods.
They are feared by the Nomads of the Western Plains and the inhabitants of Thumar, so there are no relations to them.

Agriculture & Industry

Zayth Tcheor is neither an industrial nor an agricultural power. They mainly live off hunting and they build with wood from the forest and their clothes from fur and a fabric made from moss.

Trade & Transport

There isn't much trade going on with other nations due to the reputation and strict policy of isolation of the Redwoods.

Education

Teacher Student relationships are very important and elves are usually trained in what they want to do by someone who is very experienced in it. Beore that there is a school that teaches basic survival skills, history, reading and writing (in Naosh and the basics of Common Arregean, Estirian can be taken as an elective), basic maths and depending on what you're interested in hunting, crafting, magic, healing or religion (although everyone is told stories of the Red God in history).

Infrastructure

The Redwoods operate a clever intervoven system of bridges, ladders, ropes and wooden platforms spreading across the entirety of the Redwoods and make it possible for the elves to travel through the woods without touching the floor even once.

Legislative Body
There is a giant book of laws, with all the laws current and outdated, that were ever written by the Keepers of the Book, who are finely selected and trained to write laws. But the laws of the Redwoods are rather lax anyways. The only things they are strict about are bloodrune magic and foreign relations.
