Genesis of Eaud

On Lun 8th Prinodeb every year, a festival is put on across Arrasgoth to celebrate the first eclipse of Eaud. Every race and settlement across Arrasgoth will celebrate this festival though they may celebrate in slightly different ways.

Examples of Celebrations

Peregrine Bay

The celebrations at Peregrine Bay usually involve a lot more alcohol and a lot more fire. Not having much of a communal area outside, they celebrate by choosing one of the older boats that is going out of commission. They will spend the day on the boat and finish by pouring alcohol over it and setting it on fire.

Skegring Sands

The entire island of Skegring Sands celebrate by travelling to Cape Vern and having a large feast of fruits and vegetables whilst sitting in one of the large fountains. They believe that cleansing themselves in body both inside and out helps with the celebration of a new moon.

History

The first celebration of the Genesis of Euad can be documented as far back as the creation of the continent, with cave paintings showing the celebration of the eclipse of the moon found near Thornwood Falls. However, full celebrations in the way it is celebrated now has only been going for the last five hundred years.   Before that, it was celebrated within family units rather than as a whole settlement as it is now. The continuing settling of the races of Arrasgoth and the building of communities within these places has led to the larger celebrations.

Execution

A typical festival for the Genesis of Euad begins at dawn when the eclipse will start and will last for the entire day. On the rise of the sun, Euad will move over it and everyone will gather in their communal space outside, whether that's a fountain, a garden, a forest or a campsite. Once the eclipse is fully in place, the community will each share bread that is shaped to look like the moon and break it together, to solidify their town or settlement as one.    After the bread has been eaten, the rest of the day will be spent together, sharing stories of the previous year, singing songs and dancing in the darkness. No work takes place on this day as it is deemed an important festival for all to attend of all ages. This festival will continue until dawn of the next day when the sun shall be seen in the sky once again. The festival is finished at dawn with the community gathering at their communal space and burning a large moon made out of materials common to their settlement.
