Metilth Working Caste
The working caste in Central Tilth are the only color and joy to be found in the squalid, reeking slum that is the Rezzie. Rarely have I met such an all-around jolly culture. The drinking! The dancing! And such magnificiently raucous street brawls. Five out of five stars, highly recommend.
Metilth society is divided into a rigid and strictly enforced caste system, with the Metilth Ruling Caste at the top, and the Metilth Merchant Caste in the middle.
However the sturdy foundation of Metilth society is based on, and evolved from, the Metilth working caste, the artisans and laborers whose blood, sweat, and tears fuel the massive furnaces of the glass foundries in the Foundry District of Central Tilth.
Culture
Major language groups and dialects
In addition to the Shared language and Seasign, a secret form of communication -- Central Tilth Safety Code -- has recently been making its way into working caste culture, making it easier for people to avoid being rolled over by their friends, neighbors, and coworkers.
Shared customary codes and values
Forthright honesty to the point of bluntness. Many people cannot handle long exposure to a Metilth worker due to hearing things about themselves that they may not enjoy knowing. These things are rarely said with malice, though they are said directly and without sweetening or softening.
Community is very important to the working caste. Neighborhoods within the Rezzie will commonly band together to share resources, making sure that no one does without.
The heat is brutal, and so is the punishment for wasting water. More than half of Central Tilth's indebted population is so because of violence against flushers.
