One of the three "Norns", who are also called "alfr", who also created the elves together with her siblings.
She is the one that argued for a peace between elves and humans, when they were carried into the last Garden by the gods. She is a servant of Freyr.
Force of birth and goddess of life in the ever ongoing cycle. She takes the thread of lifeforce from Urdr, and hands it over to Skold, who weaves it back into her loom of life to make it grow again as life on Ardu, until Urdr takes it again, rips the weave apart and hands it back to Verthande.
She is the force of nourishment and carries the basket of apples which nourish the gods and gives them eternal life. Just like her sisters Urdr and Skold, she is married to Dagdamagh.
Her domains are the domains of Life and Nature.
