Brumestone Material in Ardre | World Anvil

Brumestone

Ancient stones of unknown material and origin. Also called noonstones, brumestones are found near the center of most major settlements in Milos. As their name suggests, these rocks seem to repel Brume for up to a mile. The stones are thought to have been mined from the earth by the Aernigh, but all efforts to find such material in present times have yielded nothing.   Brumestone gardens are thought to have been the sites of ancient rituals and blood sacrifices, though there seems to be no link between such actions and the function of the stones. By modern custom they are not to be touched, at least in most settlements, yet still they repel the Brume. Yet there are Brumestone gardens that have died, most notably in the Noddlands of Revellia. These gardens seem in as fit a state as any other, yet they are subsumed in heavy mists, and none dare set a roof nearby.   Brumestone gardens are less common in Northern Milos. In Bastis, mists cover nearly all the land, and the Sublime is a roiling cauldron of Brume. The Yfri Fields are much freer of Brume for unclear reasons, and several of the Brumestones there have been carved into actual gardens: trees and flowers of strange stone.
