Bennerok the Beast

The Pretender Bennerok

Bennerok the Beast was a pretender to the crown of Revellia in 995 RA. He claimed to be the abandoned son of King Dorreon the Second and Lady Magaana Sirtal, born during Lady Magaana's return from Dorreon's victory at Ghastfort. The child had actually died shortly after being born on a stormy night somewhere near the Sublime in Bastis, as described by Sir Laurel Odon and later confirmed by Lady Magaana herself.
Supported by a Wizard called Yawn Ice-Eye, Bennerok raised a large host from the Rathlands and managed to take both Berleigh and Aerwoth during his brief campaign. The war was ended by an Orrish duel between Bennerok and King Barthos the Bastard. Both Bennerok and Barthos were in their minority, with King Barthos three years his elder, yet Bennerok well deserved his title of "Beast." He was half-a-head taller than King Barthos with hulking, bullish shoulders, and fought with an enormous black war-axe. King Barthos took a serious wound to his shield arm, and many feared for the worst, but he managed to evade a strike meant to take his head off, then drove his sword between Bennerok's gorget and helm.
Bennerok was burned with the rest of the enemy soldiers.
Although Barthos the Bastard had been largely accepted by his people at this point, many considered his victory over Bennerok as pivotal in proving his legitimate claim to the crown of Revellia.
