Beithiach, Host of Foisons

Beithiach

One of the Twelve High Hosts that rule over the Heavens.   Being the first Autumn Host, Beithiach is the the patron of late harvests and Generosity: Generosity of the king to his lords, a lord to his vassals, hosts to their guests, and a parent to their children. Beithiach is oft invoked by beggars and hostesses, but she is also the host of much-needed and last-minute fortunes, as well as the rewards of hard work.   Beithiach is also strongly associated with swine, which were vitally important for early Milosians before livestock became more diversified. This also ties Beithiach palpably to Clan Beth in the southern tip of the Milosian Peninsula, as well as Bethril, the Father of Swine and Lord of one of the Five Hells. This grants a dark edge to what might otherwise be yet another harvest goddess. Beithiach is often depicted with wild, red and orange hair festooned with leaves, sometimes even with a single horn growing out of one side of her head, an immediate echo of the ancient Aernigh goddess Sybil Staggers. This connection has thence led to tales of Beithiach roaming the countryside in mortal guise, getting drunk and falling victim to the villainous trickery of mortals. Beithiach is also sometimes called the Devourer, having the appetite of swine, and is said to fall upon stingy lords and eat them out of house and home.   Beithiach's colors are Red and Orange. Her bird is the Woodpecker. Her beast is the Swine. Her Month is the seventh Month, called the Beth Moon or the Bay-Moon. Her constellation is the Coronet. She is associated with harmony, idealism, and diplomacy. She is considered the patron of Issuridel, the thirty-ninth Royarch. She is also heavily associated with Clan Beth in southern Milos, due to similarity in names and imagery.   Common Aspects: Beithiach Russeta (the red-maker), Beithiach Itheria (the devourer), Beithiach Aoi (the guest)
