Prince of Kadara Rank/Title in Arda Almayed | World Anvil

Prince of Kadara

The Prince of Kadara is the highest authority of the Principality of Kadara, as well as the leader of the Fahneska people. The Prince plays an important symoblic role for the people of the archipelago. Whatsmore, the Prince has final authority on every action or law pushed by the Grand Council, and while most of the time he refrains from participating in politics he remains an important political player.

The title of Prince is a gender neutral one, the original title in Badjan applying to both men and woman. It was created at the end of the Kadara Revolution, and the first to hold the title was Da'gan himself.

The title is hereditary- the eldest child of the previous Prince will be the Heir to the throne. Children as young as 4 years old have ascended to the rank of Prince, though they were usually taken care of by a close parent. Regents were not necessary as the Prince plays no essential role in politics. It is possible to pass on the title to an adopted child, and any Prince without an heir is required to adopt a person of their choosing until they can have an offspring of their own.

Role in cultural events: a fair amount of religious events can only be performed by the Prince, who acts as a spiritual leader for the Fahneska. The Prince's supposedly rigid secular education makes him the most knowledgeable person about all things religion, though in reality the standard is rarely met.

Prince and societies - the position of prince is a complicated one because it derives directly from the colonialist model brought by the danatelians whilst they themselves had kings. the notion of prince, royalty and other forms of authority are often incompatible with Argan's teachings, and this has lead to conflicts in the past.

also, politics and shit concern almost none of the average folk of Kadara, who just kind of keep going at whatever they are doing without much care for what the prince says. see the @lounge
