Culture

"Like a lit match to a volatile concotion. Should you seek to hurt that which we hold dear, the inferno itself shall be a soothing mercy in compare our rage."
The Fire Brigade of Normania see the world as a volatile, violent place filled with horrors and tradgedy. Yet, there is no use lamenting or trembling in fear of the darkness. It so easily blinds itself. A void that swallows up void, while all needed to defy this emptyness is a tiny spark. Just like that, the brigade hates to love their fight. Though they gaze at the crime of their fellow beings with disgust, it brings them both purpose and glee to enact just vengance. For mercy can not be spared to those that seek to abuse the weak.

Public Agenda

The Brigade has always served to protect those who lack the means to defend themselves. Be it through herding the masses away from disaster, or by taking the fight into the heart of a threat. Mainly, they serve the region of Normania as the largest division of their military, as well as the entierity of the Order of the Falcon. Due to their importance to the alliance and it's ideals, they are most usually sent to fight against Red Clergy as they served to become a glorious counter against mad flame-worshipping cults.

History

The Fire Brigade started as the 'Fire Battalion', a non-combatative force founded by firefighters, as the industrially focused Normania tends to have at least one fire a day. Keeping the firemen anywhere but at bay. In fact, they were so representated a faction, that a whole wing of the Normanian governoring body came to be known as the Flamefighter's council. Which later came to become their personal police force issuing bans, fines and other sensible punishment for experiments or neglect which sparked up - or risked, inferno.   After twenty years of peace and cooporation, forces of the Red Clergy suddenly assaulted the northern villages of Floeur underneath odd claims that they were rooting out heresy. Pillaging the villages, setting their vinyards ablaze and putting so called witches on the pyre, the true Witch Hunters of the The Gothangelic Order rose their eyebrows as harvest druids cheating a bit in the wine industry was not a crime that warrants such gruesome deaths.   Thanks to the blaze though, there was nothing the army of Marche could do, as licking flames kept them at bay. Likewise, most airships were under the threats of their mortars and the fleet was halted in advance by the Clergy's vastly more powerfull one.   When all hope was lost and the civilian bodycount mounted higher and higher, an experiment was made. For a week, military trained with firefighter. Aiming to turn them into as ruthless killers as possible in no-time. An achievement which was technically impossible, though as both professions included risking life and limb to protect what they loved, a new army was born.   The new Fire Brigade proved a different devil to handle for the Clergy, as the Normanian forces came charging straight out of the fire and smoke. Undetered by the scorching heat and noxious gasses, they'd charge into melee combat with their foes. Pistols were rammed through shattering teeth before firing up. Bayonetts hunting down those who tried to escape. Axes cut through fortifications, metal and bone, giving no mercy to their hated enemies.   Due to the ruthless efficency of the brigade, as they rather than stand on lines or hide within trenches attacked underneath direct command, they could swiftly achieve one objective and rush straight to the next without waiting stationed for further orders. Thus sparking a new revolution within warfare. Hence, Normania adapted it's whole main army to embrace their newfound tactics.   Their brigade was split up into two korps, with five following battalions. The first korps being known as the Fireblade and the second the Fireshield. One aimed to strike at the threats of Normania's citizens, the other to shield them from harm.
