Ad-Anasia: Western Hemisphere

The Western Hemisphere of the super-continent Ad-Anasia was defined by two large regions. The Northern region was a land of steppes and plateaus while the lowlands beneath the volcanic flows formed humid deserts and large primal jungles. Another characteristic of the Western Hemisphere is 2 large inland seas on it's Eastern shores, towards the Central Sphere.

These oceans remained relatively warm throughout the seasons, making them excellent places to travel through during normal conditions. Highland cliffs from the Central Sphere made stormy weather devestating within the Western Hemisphere. These rains made the land a primary location for land traveling Saurians and Mammalians. As they approached from the North and South during the cold seasons, many of them migrated towards the center of the Western Hemisphere during these seasons.

Geography

The Northern region was connected to the Minas Polas and Central Sphere by a series of highland and lowland valleys. The coast near the landbridge was of a steep elevation, eventually turning into sheer cliff by the end of the Saurian Era. The storms that wracked the cliff made them inhospitable locations when migrating. Only the most adept land mammals made these cliff regions their homes. Other species avoided these windswept barrens during the stormy seasons.

The inland seas teemed with Aquatic life that migrated yearly around the oceans between the Western and Central Spheres. Historians consider, according to the fossil remains of Aquatics and Saurians, that the cycles were counter-clockwise, in patterns that followed the natural currents of the inland oceans. Coastal areas gave birth to new kinds of floral life which carried itself across the world on the water currents. These oceans were inevitably broken wide, expanding and becoming the 2 largest oceans of Pathon.

The Southern region saw the most activity, avoiding the prairies and deserts of the central northern region. Great mountain ranges broke the center of the Western Hemisphere, providing the slopes and narrow channels for the volcanoes that still lingered during the later Eras. Beyond the volcaones led into the vallies and back into the crust, thriving jungles and misty rainforests reached for the golden coasts once more. In the farther western regions, the lowland valleys and marshes were the home of a variety of Insectoids and Saurian creatures. Of the regions, the greatest animal number of Mammals and Avian occurred in the western expanse.

Ecosystem

A great and ancient coral occurred near the central ocean, against the Western Hemisphere's Eastern coves. This reef was responsible for the diversion of a large flow of the water currents, which kept the land relatively peaceful during certain storm phenomenons. The calm seas here were a favorite spawning ground for marine life in the spring and a hunting ground for predators in the summer.

While the steppes and deserts in the northern region didn't have much to offer traveling animals, the southern region was a coveted destination for many. As natural oasis occured more commonly near the center, the land quickly returned to mountainous regions near the center, forcing rivers down into the valleys of the west. Once past, the regions of the south offered fertile grounds for most kinds of animals.
While the western region of the southern area was dry and warm, the closer to the eastern shores, the more green the region became. Insectoids, Avians, small and large Mammals, Saurians, and Draconians all found these areas to be abundant in resources during the warmer months.

Ecosystem Cycles

As the seasons became warmer, certain species would traffic to and from the western region, for various reasons. Most of them avoided the predation of predators such as the Saurians and the Draconians by avoiding the Western Hemisphere during the warm months. The steppes and plateaus were easy hunting grounds- especially when Dragons adapted flight and became Aerial creatures. Migratory animals would travel between these regions for most of the Eras.

It became a more localized region when the ice of Majas Polas began to melt, as accesses from the south pole were lost to the errosion of time. While this was devestating for some migratory species (inevitably leading to the extinction of some groups), this also allowed some of the life forms within this region to flourish and gain incredible adaptations during the fading Saurian and Draconian Eras.

History

Saurian Era

The Western Hemisphere is the home of many species of Terran Saurians and Avians. One of the longest reptiles in the world is the Titanaboa, whose remains were found in the west. This creature had an incredible land size. A group of Terran Avians, known as Axebeaks, were nearly hunted into extinction by this menacing monstrosity. Other incredible creatures includes the earliest examples of Giant Ants, found in the northern region.

The Drakis of this region grew to exceptional lengths and heights as well, including the Terran quadrapedal Dracotaur and the Wyvern (an Aerial bidpedal creature with a large maw and venomous stinger). The Dracotaur formed their own tribe systems during the Saurian Era and established territories as well, but many of these were scattered during the Draconian Era.

Draconian Era

The Dark Lord Shoden Lo was born in the Western Sphere, in the southern jungles. When he usurped the region from the Dracadians, the Western Hemisphere was made accessible by two bridges across the north and central south, reconnecting the severed lands. Though he moved to the Central Sphere, the Black Draconian Empire was the legacy he left behind within the west, which controlled many activities across the borders.

An island in the south, between two landmasses, was the hidden location of an unknown group of Dragons that appears in the later Era, known as the Purple Dragons. They inhabited this island where various forms of Insectoids and Avians had grown. They were connected to the island by an underground network of tunnels that ran beneath the subterranae.

Orange Dragons were also prevalent in the Western Sphere, as well as Copper and Brass Dracadians. One of the greatest marvels of engineering, a city of aqueducts, had been created by the Brass Dracadians and hidden in the coastal cliffs. They called it the "Cascades Bastion", which became a hidden sanctuary for some of the greatest Dracadian minds during this era of war. The process for creating great baths and aqueducts became a favorite hobby of many Draconic engineers.

As it relates to the Orange Dragons, they went extinct due to a defect formed by the Dracothage. Swelling in the brain caused their numbers to dwindle rapidly, Prone to violence, many of them lost their lives attempting to besiege the Cascades Bastion.

The Draconian Era ended roughly with the death of the Dark Lord, Shoden Lo, which left a huge power vaccuum in the lands of the Western Draconians. In the following years that marked the Dracadian Era, the noble Dracadians continued to wage war against their sworn enemies. The Draconians were eventually held accountable for their actions in the Dracadian Era.
