Kobold Species in Aquila Palaxis | World Anvil

Kobold

A small, scaled humanoid race seemingly exclusive to Takuvia, though it's clear by all evidence that they don't originate from the normally fauna-less world.

Phenotypes

Kobolds come in many shapes, but rarely do they step away from being tiny things. Takuvian kobolds are typically of the rhinoker type, which feature a prominent horn at the front of their snout, between their nostrils. Other types exist around the galaxy, including types with more blunted snouts, wider eyes, or a variety of frills and horns.
  • Canirostra: A rare 'dog-faced' phenotype of kobold.
  • Deep/Forgotten: More of a rumor, these kobolds are purportedly eyeless, relying more on tendril-like feelers to sense their surroundings. Conflicting reports claim that they have a singular eye on their forehead, while the place where their eyes would normally be are empty slits, seeping with grimy tears.
  • Lamandra: Notable for a general smooth visage, the Lamandra kobold has at least two horn-like protrusions on their cheek/lower jaw, and an upward curving crest.  These kobolds are popular for portraying fictional kobolds.
  • Lung: Fluffy, and with two long whiskers trailing off the sides of their nose, the Lung kobold is almost majestic compared to other kobolds.
  • Ophis: Notable for their cobra-like hood, and having a low-potency poison gland.
  • Quetzali: With a narrow snout, and a brilliant, feathery crest rising from the back of their heads, the Quetzali strike a distinguished visage among koboldkind.
  • Rhinoker: Distinguished by a pronounced nose- and chin-horns, and six blade-like protrusions running down their cheeks and jawline- three blades on each side.
  • Pachyrhino: Recognized by their plated snouts and tusk-like lower teeth, these kobolds tend towards a stocky, almost rotund, body type.

While not officially a phenotype, there's a group of kobolds known as the Blackscales that are often spoken of as if they are their own type. In truth, the Blackscales are simply kobolds under the UGF demolition corps.
