Khevrir Species in Aquila Palaxis | World Anvil

Khevrir

The eyeless saurian anthropoids native to the world of Tecun. They claim that they were once a prosperous people, though unspecified actions done by the, presumably at the time, juvenile United Galactic Federation. While these anti-UGF sentiments hold strong to this day, there have been a few that have broken away from established dogma, that have joined the galactic society at large, and branded themselves unwittingly as pariahs.
The khevrir species has a segmented respiratory system, with six 'gills' at their neck, which lead directly into the thoracic lungs, while their nostrils and mouth filter into pseudo-lungs around their sinal cavities, allowing them to still take in scents without directly feeding into the lungs. The mouth only tangentially hooks up with the lungs, as a byproduct of a fairly standard esophagus layout.
