Irrim

A world beset by regular volcanic activity, there is notations in old archives that allude to this world being terraformed at some point.
The mirromy, and their predator, the shlealin, seem to have evolved naturally here, and yet, archaeologists picking through rubble on Elmaloris have dredged up fossilized remains of a mirromy.
With dark-sand beaches, and a wild rippled crust, Irrim stands as unique among the documented worlds. In the embrace of the central landmass, Nirron, there appears to be a foreign body of some kind, not unlike a large meteorite, or perhaps a small planetoid, had impacted the planet long, long ago. Surrounding this body, as if agitated and burning still, is a supervolcano, giving this world its characteristic hot temperatures, and blackened sand.

Nirron: Housing the Rranith starport, and while it lacks the facilities for refueling, the port town is reasonably welcoming to guests, allowing for a safe mingling of cultures at the port town borders.

Flora

  • Waony (Curled Tail Seaweed): "falling wave tail lifeform". Harvested for the tasty golden spore sacs. The leaves are primarily used to wrap goods for transport, as they are fibrous but flexible. They usually must be cured in salt in the sun to be useable like this.
  • Aeph-ony (Reef Tail): Known otherwise as the "fake tail lifeform", this is one of the most common plants on Irrim. Mirromy make sure to plant it around their homes to use as cover. Root balls are replanted by Mirromy to spread. Naturally the spread by root clusters separating from the parent plant.
  • Taro-y (Orb Weed): Sometimes known as "high orb lifeform". The main part of the root is highly poisonous, however the red orbs are highly concentrated sacs of absorbed minerals the plant uses to feed off of when food in the soil is sparse. Mirromy often leave these near waste receptacles as a means of extracting useful minerals. They don't typically eat the sacs, as all the minerals combined have a bitter taste. However they often take the mineral sacs and use them in farms to feed other plants.
  • Eruuy (Whip Lantern): "whip lifeform". Attracts small creatures to it's lantern with bright color and a mix of smells that make many small predators think food is hiding inside. Then when an animal touches the lime colored ridge the whip smacks it in, where rows of sharp down facing barbs keep it trapped until it dies and is digested. It poses no threat to Mirromy usually, as most lanterns are only about a foot across. Few exist that are large enough to eat a small Mirromy. The Roots are harvested for food, and are highly nutritious.
  • Dori-ry (Pulpit Plant): "around edge lifeform". Very poisonous on all accounts when it comes to edibility. Many times this is used to border a colony to try and discourage animals from roaming in or mark from other colonies as claimed territory. It only grows a few feet tall, and if you touch the orange orb head, the film on it can burn your softer skin. It if only safe to touch by the stalk or the root ball. Cultivation is easy, just dig at the base for a root orb and transplant just under the surface.
  • Loro-y (Glow Lanterns): "glowing orb life form". Related to the reef plant Orb Weed ("Taro-y" or "High orb lifeform"), these are sometimes used for similar purposes, however they are also used as lanterns and lights to mark points of interest. Typically they are not used for fertilizer for other plants, as the larger orbs contain high concentrations of compounds that other plants may find harmful.
  • Erueedy (Pit Whip): "mouth whip lifeform". Related to the common Whip Lantern ("Eruuy" or "whip lifeform"). These are much more dangerous. They can be several feet across. The only part of them that glows is a little tendril right below the whip that softly catches in currents. When it is touched, the plant smacks the whip down. Shoving is stunned prey into it's lantern where down facing barbs kill it and slowly digest it. It is only cultivated for it's strong barbs as weapons.
  • Shard Coral: Hardened structures with holes filter minerals through them in strong currents. The insides of each hole are filled with many small faintly glowing fibers. It is commonly cultivated as firm posts for houses, as even once the plant is dead it's shell is very durable for long periods.
  • Deep Sea Dori-ry (Deep Barbed Pulpit): "around edge lifeform". Though the Mirromy call the same and use it similar as the reef type of Pulpit Plant. It does grow taller, and it's body is also covered in small red spines. Usually somewhere along it's base is a thick red spine. It uses it to deter things from touching the orb. Which it still has a sticky burning film on the orb if touched. The plant uses this film to catch minerals and spores from other Dori-ry for proliferation and food.

Fauna

  • Mirromy: Vaguely felid, bipedal, simultaneous hermaphrodite humanoid creatures that populate most corners of Irrim. Most live predominantly in or near the water, while the climber and volcanic types can survive for prolonged periods on land (though they too need regular hydration).
  • Shlealin: Cold-blooded reptilian predators.
  • Shlearim: Known otherwise as the 'feriform Shlealin', these creatures serve as the main predator of a Mirromy is a type of feral Shlealin, also a distant cousin to Mirromy themselves. This is a type with no skin plates, which haven't evolved yet to protect themselves from Mirromy tongue poison! These creatures reach approximately 12 feet in length when they enter adulthood. Half of that being length of tail. They burrow into the sides of coasts, rivers, and reefs to sit and wait for prey to come by. Can be colorful, often blending in the same way a Mirromy does. More likely to have black as a color to blend into the shadowy holes it digs. They don't have lots of stamina, however they are very fast in the takeoff and often catch Mirromy by surprise or other prey. Teeth are replaceable, the lower large fangs being like tusks. Short stubby arms and legs, primarily for digging. Spines on dorsal area used like a Mirromy's antenna, but its eyesight is mediocre.
  • Mirrim: Genetic ancestors of the mirromy species
  • Pouna: A tiny little aquatic creature with twin dorsal fins just behind its skull, a fringed fin on either side of its body, and a split tail fin, as well as two antennae above each large eye. Often preyed upon by mirromy.
  • Hauray: One of very few flying creatures of Irrim, observes a distinctly omnivorous diet, but favors worms and insects.
  • Arikoy Prowler: Feliform predator predominantly prowling terrestrial regions, but features webbed digits, giving it some ability to hunt in shallows.
  • Ropuy: A caniform pack hunter that preys mostly in more colder regions of Irrim.
  • Maumar: Hulking feliform hunters of the arctic regions of the world, featuring massive paws and saber teeth evolved to puncture thick hides.
  • Nual: Ruminant ungulates that populate forests and jungles alike.
  • Itoruy: Small, binocular salamander creature with a parietal gem for expanded sight and antennae for picking up sounds. Its limbs are connected from elbow to knee with a thin membrane that gives it limited gliding from tree to tree.
