Ashildr Runasdottir is the current leader of the Hellavosen Marches following a succession crisis in the kingdom after the death of her uncle, Einar Hrolfsson.

Personal history
Despite the deaths of her parents at a young age, Ashildr grew up in a happy household under her uncle's supervision. She excelled at her studies, especially diplomacy and military strategy, and was supposed to become the commander of her cousin's armies upon his ascension to the throne alongside her brother, who loved the intricacies of economic policies more than fighting with a sword. However, her uncle died before any of his plans could be set in stone. Following the murders of her cousins and brother by Forrade Gierson, her uncle's adviser, Ashildr fled the capital. She mustered an army in the name of her dead cousin, claiming authority as the sole surviving heir of the family. After two years of brutal strife, she managed to defeat Forrade, though he managed to escape justice and disappear.
Education
Ashildr's uncle prided himself on being an educated man and he expected no less from his niece, nephew, and sons. They were all tutored privately at the King's estate in Torni. Ashildr proved adept at military strategy and the arts of diplomacy, but she often skipped her lessons on economics and trade, trusting her brother to excel in her stead. Ashildr also became skillful with the broadsword after many long hours of practice.

Motivation
Ashildr wants nothing more than to rebuild the Hellavosen Marches after the devastating civil war. To that end, she is focused on reforming old alliances with the Empire of Illarescia and Ayarara. She is engaged in talks with the Trilmo Confederation to allow them to set up an embassy in the capital and for their merchants to have free access to Hellavosen's ports.

Family Ties
Ashildr's mother died when she was young and her father perished in the military campaigns against the creatures in the north. Her uncle, Einar Hrolfsson, took her and her brother in after her parents' deaths. He raised both of them and Ashildr thought of him as her second father, and she grew up happy in his household with her two cousins and brother. During the succession crisis following the death of her uncle, the previous King, her cousins and her brother were murdered by the traitorous adviser to the King, Forrade Geirson.
Wealth & Financial state
Ashildr is royalty, and therefore quite wealthy even though the state treasury spent much of its coin on the civil war and for the rebuilding of infrastructure. She owns two residences and one estate in Torni proper. She donates much of her yearly income to the war orphans of Hellavosen and has established four orphanages she pays for.
