Fire Dwarf

Written by Pookas Kreations

Fire Dwarves are superficially similar to Azer, because of the spark that resides in the population they are now considered native outsiders. They mostly live in and around volcanoes, hot springs and thermal vents.

Basic Information

Anatomy

In form they appear as a Dwarf wreathed in fire. This fire is usually where hair grows (head, and arms), and is mostly illusionary for the common people. Those with stronger ties to the elemental plane of fire can control their fire and make it manifest as true fire.

Biological Traits

Fire dwarves that are in-tune to their element live longer the closer they dwell to it. The ruling class (royal family, mages and priests) have dwellings nearest to lava flows and the common people farthest from it.

Ecology and Habitats

Any land, usually near a volcano or hot vents.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Their favorite food is the lava worms that frequent deep lava flows. They rarely eat anything cold and the heat of the food won't harm them. Some fire dwarves especially close to the element will even drink lava or molten metal.

Biological Cycle

They don't do well in cool or cold climates.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

Fire dwarves are linked to the element of fire, they each are born with a spark of fire. This spark is alive of itself, so could be considered a parasite. History

During the Chaos Wars, a coastal city of dwarves were affected by a sea battle between the Atlanteans and Seafolk. As a result of this battle a dimensional tear opened up to the elemental plane of fire. A group of fire elementals were pulled through and trapped on Aquatica.

After the battle they weren't able to return and were drawn to the heat from a nearby volcano. They made a pact with the clerics and ruling family to share their island and for mutual protection. This eventually led to the communal/parasitic partnership that they enjoy presently.

Even though it appears to be a master/slave relationship to outsiders, it is a partnership. Elementals have rights and responsibilities the same as any dwarf does.

Fire Dwarves are a gruff and passionate but stern race, they carve their cities from living volcanoes. More than any other race, dwarves have acquired a reputation as dour and humorless artisans of the earth, but only to outsiders, with family and friends their true nature is shown. It could be said that their history shapes the dark disposition of many dwarves, for they reside in or near volcanoes and dangerous realms below the earth, constantly at war with Atlanteans, Lizardfolk, Naga, most Seafolk and the horrors of Terranik.
