The Endarchs

Overview
The Endarchs are not Deities at all, but entities of God-like strength. Among them are former Deities known as the Imprisoned, Exarchs who stole a god's essence called Ungodlings, and ancient planar Sovereigns as old as the universe itself. Unable to gain power from worship directly, they instead gain freedom from being shaped by their follower's perceptions. Alien in their origins and nature, the motivations of the Endarchs are nigh-inscrutable.
Asmodeus, Lord of the Nine Hells.   "The Lord of Nine's cause is righteous and just. Servitors like you are unfit to see it."   Epithets: Deus-Anima, Lord of Lies. The False God. The Iconoclast. Shaper of All Things.
Alignment: Lawful Evil.
Domain: Arcana, Death, Forge, Knowledge, Order, Trickery, War.
Plane: Nessus, the Nine Hells.
Pronouns: He / Him.   Asmodeus is the Endarch of ultimate tyranny. His power comes from contracts over souls, though the extent of this power is unknown by all. Devils aside, Warlocks bargain with him for power, and he preys upon Tieflings who may feel outcast. He decrees:
  • Never break a contract. Exploit others at every opportunity. Show no mercy.
  • Know that the true path to power is the upon backs of those who throw themselves beneath you.
  • There is an order to all things. Know your place, and make the weak know theirs.
His Avatar is that of a red-skinned Tiefling in crimson robes, with four goat-like horns, holding a ruby sceptre.
Lacking divinity, Asmodeus has no Aspects, though some speculate that the other Archdevils are all secretly him.
Exarchs are the Archdevils: Zariel, Dispater, Mammon, Fierna, Levistus, Glasya, Baalzebul, and Mephistopheles.
Tharizdun, the Chained Oblivion.   "I whisper his whispers, I scream his screams. Do the shackles not scape away at your mind?"   Epithets: T'ha-Uza, the Great Regret. Elder Elemental Eye. The Chained God. The Shackled One.
Alignment: Chaotic Evil.
Domain: Trickery.
Plane: Voidharrow, The Abyss.
Pronouns: He / Him.   Tharizdun is the endarch of destruction and delirium. The unwitting creator of the Abyss, he was cast into it to contain him, or him to contain its spread. His cults interpret his incomprehensible screams, and maddening whispers thus:
  • Manipulate all you meet into worshipping the Elder Eye, by any means necessary.
  • Uncover shrines of the Chained Oblivion, and the secrets to break his chains.
  • Reality is a prison. Through the destruction of it all, we can be free of limitations.
Tharizdun has no known Avatar, though he is depicted as a red eye, bound by a 7-pointed star of black chains.
He has no known Aspects either, though he will often disguise as other entities to utilise their followers.
Exarchs are powerful entities considered to be mad or without purpose, his will manifesting through them.
Castien, the Martyr Prince.   "You could put an end to this. You know what must be done; all that's left is to bargain for it."   Epithets: Blood-Hunter's Bargain. Haemonculus. KaCien. Nephilim. The Last Laugh. Slaver's End.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral.
Domain: None.
Plane: The Underdark, Apocrypha.
Pronouns: They / Them.   A failed creation of the Cadences, Castien is the endarch of vengeance and oaths of blood. Those with nothing left to lose turn to Castien, to make their suffering into the power needed to punish their enemies. Those who bargain with the Martyr Prince agree to these terms:
  • Endure suffering for a greater cause, and foresake redemption to achieve the impossible.
  • Be unwavering in your resolve. Reproach is only a tool for your abusers to use against you.
  • Destroy greater evils without remorse. A single atrocity can prevent an eternity of torment.
Castien's Avatar is an androgynous, emaciated, and translucent-skinned celestial with visible arteries.
Foregoing Aspects, they instead manifest through Haemocraft - blood rituals that caricaturise magic.
Exarchs of the Martyr Prince are weak but many: blood-hunters, warlocks, and vengeance paladins.
The Lady of Pain.   "One last thing, Apocryphal - if you hear commotion, stay out of sight. Now, enjoy your visit!"   Epithets: Flayer. Her Serenity. Ruler of Sigil. The Bladed Queen. The Silent One.
Alignment: Lawful Neutral.
Domain: None.
Plane: Sigil, the Outlands.
Pronouns: She / Her.   The most enigmatic of the endarchs, the Ruler of Sigil outright refuses worship of the presence of divinity within her city. She only appears rarely, and has never been known to communicate. Inhabitants and visitors to the City of Doors have inferred the following laws:
  • Do not attempt to worship the Lady of Pain, lest you be flayed for your insolence.
  • Do not debase her with your gaze, voice, or presence, lest you bleed from every orifice.
  • Do not disrupt the function of the City of Doors, lest you be imprisoned for eternity.
Her Avatar is robed figure with an expressionless metal mask, from which countless blades protrude.
Without Aspects, the Lady of Pain turns her power toward barring all gods and divine magic from her city.
Exarchs are Dabus, goat-like humanoids who maintain the city, and communicate with spectral glyphs.
The Elemental Lords.   "We bear truths older than faith. Gods will fade and die; the Elements need only wait."   Members: Akadi. Kossuth. Grumbar. Istishia.
Elements: Air. Fire. Earth. Water.
Kingdoms: Skyield. Pyreclast. Roothold. Crestide.
Plane: The Elemental Chaos.
Pronouns: She / Her (Akadi), He / Him (Others).   Known as the Dawn Titans, these endarchs are the oldest and most powerful primordials, once said to engulf all Apocrypha. Outmatched by the young gods, they fashioned their own bodies into the very planes in which they now reside; biding time until they have the strength to wage war again.
  • Akadi advocates freedom, travel, and spontaneity, opposed by Grumbar's unshakable stubbornness.
  • Kossuth invokes passion and total rebirth, contrary to the apathy and flexibility typified by Istishia.
  • The borders between elements act as battlegrounds; the demiplanes of Smoke, Magma, Ooze, and Ice.
Their Avatars are phenomena on an incomprehensible scale: vortices, mountains, wildfires, and floods.
Pre-dating divinity, the Elemental Lords have no aspects; uncaring of how others may perceive them.
Exarchs are the Archomentals, lesser princes who feud over their element's capacity for good or evil.
The Royal Fey.   "The poor mortal's after losing its teleportation gland! Queen Ma'am's radiance will fix that right up!"   Members: Titania. The Queen of Air and Darkness.
Seasons: Summer. Winter.
Courts: Seelie. Unseelie.
Plane: The Feywild.
Pronouns: She / Her (Both).   The Royal Fey are as old as the Feywild itself, and blur the lines between the endarchs and divinity. Titania and the Dark Queen hold some connection to their respective seasonal deities - Pelor and the Raven Queen - being able to draw upon the worship of the Aspects of Chauntea and Auril.
  • Summer embodies life, light, warmth, joy, and music, but also fey supremacy and apathy towards mortals.
  • Winter is death, darkness, cold, sorrow, and silence, but the acceptance and recognition of mortal plights.
  • Despite their differences, neither is willing to truly fight the other, as they are sisters, literally or otherwise.
Titania's Avatar is a beautiful eladrin with hair of leaves and fire. The Dark Queen has no physical form.
They each have Aspects of the Wild Hunt, Meiliki and Malar, representing both its sport and its savagery.
Exarchs are archfey within their respective courts, such as Verenestra, and the Princess of Shadow Glass.
