The Axioms

Overview
The Axioms are the neutral Gods, who represent and maintain universal principles. These can be fundamental forces, such as magic, or mortal concepts like civilisation. Most have a tenuous friendship with the Cadences, who are far more willing to tolerate the presence of neutrality than the Betrayers. Though their domains can seem uncaring to some mortals, the Axioms are truly devoted to their task, whether it by love, or a sense of duty.
Erathis, the Lawbearer.   "Do I worship Errat'sii? No, not quite. I tend to these temples from a sense of duty, and no less."   Epithets: Errat'sii, the Hourglass. Balancer of Scales. The Grand Architect. The Turning Gear.
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Domain: Forge. Knowledge, Order.
Plane: Abellio, Arcadia.
Pronouns: She / Her.   Erathis's domain is civilisation. She authored the first laws, founded the first cities, inspired the first inventions. Rulers, civil servants, and citizens proud of their community revere her. Of all her laws, these following are enshrined above all others:
  • Form communities and work together, for strength combined is worth more than each alone.
  • Make the world fit for habitation, so that all may live where suits them best.
  • Innovate and expand, build edifices to inspire others, and keep society from stagnating.
Her Avatar is that of a feminine statue in silver armour with purple cloth, holding an Hourglass.
Known Aspects are Helm, Sentinel of the Spire, and Ilmater, God of endurance for the persecuted.
Erathis's Exarchs are gargantuan constructs called Inevitables, and the various Saints of society.
Ioun, the Knowing Mentor.   "Books with notes in the margin are my favourite. Ioun weeps - but they give fascinating insights."   Epithets: Idune, the Keeper of Keys. Ou-Goma. Chronicler of Truth. The Broken Goddess.
Alignment: True Neutral.
Domain: Arcana, Knowledge.
Plane: Hestavar, the Astral Sea.
Pronouns: She / They.   Ioun is the axiom of knowledge, stories, and research. Mystra is magic, and Corellon its art, but Ioun is the patron of its study. Libraries, archives, schools, and academies often house shrines to her. Their commands are also teachings:
  • Balance reason and emotion, for those with a passion for knowledge will persue it best.
  • Be not afraid to share knowledge freely, and provide others with the means to do so.
  • Be ever-watchful for Vecna and his cultists, and all who would make secrets of the truth.
Her Avatar is an elderly woman with a third eye, wearing blue robes adorned with parchment.
Their Aspects are teachers, such as Deneir, the Lord of Scribes, and Oghma, the Patron of Bards.
Ioun's exarchs often take the form of Astral Angels and Sphinxes, searching for new knowledge.
Kord, the Stormlord.   "Find strength in what matters to you. Let the Stormlord's might inspire strength in others."   Epithets: Ko'temb, the Winds of Sand. Champion of the Arena. Father of Conflict. The Raging One.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral.
Domains: Tempest, War.
Plane: Asgard, Ysgard.
Pronouns: He / Him.   Kord is the God of storms and combat. Capricious and headstrong, he takes pride in the Giantkin who embody his strength best. Those seeking to weather the storm toast to his mastery over weather, and battle to gain his favour. His orders are few:
  • Build strength of body, heart, and character. No temple compares to true strength.
  • Temper your anger, and only bring about destruction with great purpose.
  • Strive for bravery and glory above all. Cowardice brings shame to the Stormlord.
His Avatar is a bearded, muscular and tattooed grey giant, wearing a fur kilt and wielding a lightning bolt.
Kord's Aspects belie his destructive nature: Tempus, the Wargod, and Umberlee, Goddess of Surging Seas.
Exarchs include Annam, the All-Father Demigod of Giants, and Ubtao, the Primordial Demigod of Balance.
Melora, the Wildmother.   "I give thanks, al-Melzidanye, for this hunt's spoils, knowing someday you will take thanks in turn."   Epithets: an-Melzidanye, the Oasis. Mother Nature. Heart of the Timeless Green.
Alignment: Unaligned.
Domains: Nature, Tempest.
Plane: None, but Frequents the Beastlands.
Pronouns: She / Her.   Melora is the Goddess of nature, whether it be the untamed wilderness or a tranquil sea. She is revered by Druids, Rangers, hunters, and sailors alike. Children of the nature spirits, she looks kindly upon Animalkin of all kinds. She asks these tenets be respected:
  • Do not allow the expansion of civilisation to consume the wilds. Protect the balance.
  • Foul abominations and those who would twist nature are to be hunted.
  • Embrace the savagery of nature, but never fail to show respect to that which you take from it.
Her Avatar is a portly mossy-furred animalkin with curly red hair, in clothes of vines and leaves.
Aspects of Melora are Silvanus, the Father of Forests, and Eldath, Goddess of Tranquillity.
Exarchs include Cerunnos, the Huntmaster, and the countless nature spirits across Apocrypha.
Mystra, the Enigmagus.   "Could there ever be a better way to contemplate the Unknown, than with unanswered questions?"   Epithets: Mystryl, the Tapestry Obscured. Midnight, Lady of Mysteries. Mother of All Magic. Unknown.
Alignment: Unknown.
Domains: Arcana, Knowledge, Unknown.
Plane: The Weave, Unknown.
Pronouns: She / It / Unknown.   Mystra is the Patron of the Magic and Mysteries. It is the Weave through which magic is cast. Perhaps the Deity with the most elusive nature, it does not acknowledge, interact with, or seek worship. Only spellcasters who practice magic in accordance with her creeds can claim her favour:
  • It is better to wonder than to find answers. The truth of our Lady lies in questions yet unfathomed.
  • Cast spells freely and discover new magics, so that Mystra's gifts may permeate the cosmos.
  • Protect the Weave from errant or hubristic magics, and thwart all who seek to distort our lady's will.
Mystra has no known Avatar or manifestation outside of the Weave. It is unknown if this is of its own volition.
Her Aspects represent her mortal adherents, Azuth, Patron of Wizards, and Savras, Lord of Divination.
Exarchs of the Enigmagus are merely spellcasters of quasi-divine power, who follow its strictures.
The Raven Queen.   "O Mother, we beseech you - wherever this wayward soul is headed, may it not travel there alone."   Epithets: N'era, of the End. Xem. Hexmother. The Matron of Death. Reaper of Souls.
Alignment: Lawful Neutral.
Domains: Death, Grave, Life.
Plane: Fortress of Memories, Shadowfell.
Pronouns: She / Her.   The Raven Queen is the Goddess of death, fate, and winter. She ascended by killing Nerull, the prior God of Death, and holds affection for the Kenku and Shadar-Kai who bear her image. She tends to the dead, and asks in return:
  • Remember the lost, but do not pity them. Death is inevitable, and the fate of all things.
  • Punish the hubris of those who seek to defy fate; who raise themselves and others into undeath.
  • Fear not the end, for suffering and relief are intrinsic to all things in life.
Her Avatar is a porcelain white woman, decaying and wreathed in black hair, feathers, mist, and shadow.
The Aspects of the Raven Queen are Auril, the Frostmaiden, and Kelemvor, Judge of the Damned.
Her Exarchs are weak, but many - Hexblades and Psychopomps, former mortals pledged into her service
