Dirgewood

Dirgewood is a huge forest found in the Kalan region of Murkys. The Dirgewood is a sprawling, ancient forest that dominates Kalan. Its trees are unnaturally tall and twisted, with bark that appears to weep black sap. The ground is carpeted with pale moss that glows faintly in the mist, and the air is filled with a perpetual, bone-chilling dampness. The forest is home to countless wandering spirits, many of whom are victims of the mist. These Mistbound appear as translucent figures, their forms flickering like dying flames. Some are hostile and attack intruders, while others simply follow silently, whispering fragments of their regrets.   The mist in the Dirgewood is not merely a natural phenomenon: it is alive, imbued with the curse’s essence. It moves with purpose, sometimes forming shapes or tendrils that drag victims deeper into the forest. The mist feeds on emotions and memories, stripping away a person’s identity until nothing remains but an empty shell. Travelers in the Dirgewood must carry spirit wards, talismans made from blessed silver or rune-etched wood, to repel the mist temporarily. However, these wards weaken over time, and those who venture too deep rarely return. However, some seek The Weeping Glade, where it is said the soul-mists stem from, The Echo Pools, where memories can be viewed, or Phantasforge, a forge of ghostly weapons.
