Aureum Vale
Aureum Vale is a Gold Dragonborn commune, found in The Indigo Sands region of Gilunrik. It is unique amongst Dragonborn communities, as it is one of the few places that a non-Dragonborn can be transformed into a Gold Dragonborn, due to the influence of Fliskalru the Elder.
The Dragonborn of Aureum Vale are deeply spiritual, viewing themselves as protectors of balance and justice. They are renowned healers and scholars, often serving as mediators in conflicts. Their fire resistance enables them to work with molten materials, creating legendary armor and weapons imbued with radiant energy.
Aureum Vale is often the target of agents of the Chromatic Dragons, such as Jun'wo Green Dragonborn, Kobolds and in particular The Rising Pyre, due to the presence of Fliskalru the Elder. It is believed by the Pyre that, if Fliskalru can be killed, the Rising Pyre will be able to unify Dragon-kind across Apa Axas and seize control of the world at large. As such, the population is trained in military tactics from a young age, and each denizen of the commune has dedicated their lives to the defence of Fliskalru. This oath is so central to the inhabitants that even exiles, such as Rhask the Ashborn will lay down their lives in the defence of their commune, should it come under attack.
Defences
In addition to the years of dedicated combat training each and every inhabitant of Aureum Vale goes through, local School of Abjuration Wizards have erected magical wards to protect the valley from invaders. Furthermore, the commune produces powerful weapons that utilise radiant energy to imbue their strikes with devestating light.
Architecture
The Good Dragonborn create grand temples and golden spires in the town that shine in the sunlight, symbolizing their pursuit of enlightenment. The gleaming reflections from the sun from these temples and spires also has the additional benefit of causing an intense glare in the valley, blinding any unprepared potential invaders before they can get anywhere near the town. This light also makes the commune impossible to target with siege weapons, or long range magic, and any approach Dragons are warded away by the light, leaving the only option for an invading force as approaching on foot. With the Gold Dragonborn's mighty radiant bows and advantageous positioning, this choke point has led to the deaths of many invading forces before they even get close to the commune.
