Brickerton Proper
Brickerton is a massive walled city, once the capital of The Brickertonian Empire, then capital of Alberon, then the capital of the VCG(dwarven empire), and now an independent free city under the Double D Accords. The Free City State of Brickerton is now both a country and a city. The Accords gave them access to 50 miles beyond the walls in all directions to use as farmland and industry. When people want to specifically refer to the city, instead of the territory around it, they call it Brickerton Proper. They outer walls are 200 ft high and at least 50 ft thick, if you count the outer wall as a single building it is the largest man-made structure in the world.
Brickerton is a city of commerce and democracy. Under the Double D Accords, it was turned into an independent city-state. The accords ensure free trade along the river Alberon which bisects the city, but does allow for tariffs on bridges or crossings. The city doesn't tax individual crossings but for wagons driven by non-citizens there is a 2 gold per wagon tax. Because of this there are a few barges that make their way offering cheaper transport of goods.
Brickerton is also the first nation-state to establish a national ID and census. Each ID has a name, home district, and a picture. Each is fixed with a simple enchantment to preserve it and make it appear in the pocket of the owner whenever they would get more than 30ft away. These ID's are necessary to cross the river toll free or to vote in the elections.

Demographics
Brickerton was originally a human city with a few elves and half elves, halflings are also common though usually just traveling. There is also now a new population of dwarven halberman who decided to stay in what they call the Greenlands.
Government
The Free City of Brickerton is now a democracy. The city's famous walls form it into several districts that each have their own city council position. The city also elects a Governor who runs the council and represents all its citizens. There are two additional council positions one for the farmers north of the river Alberon and one for those south of it. Councilmen are elected every 3 years and the Governor every 6. The Guard Commander is also given a position on the Council but is chosen from among the guard captains, who each oversee a city district. Replacing the guard commander requires a 2/3 vote of the council.
Defences
The walls of Brickerton are famous as are their Scorpions and Ballista. A bolt from a Brickertonian Scorpion is said to be able to kill a Coreling at night.
Industry & Trade
Brickerton has some farming around it's edge and more in the hamlets, however most of Brickerton's economy is driven by trade or manufacturing. Large scale factories are common in the Servant areas of the city, mostly textiles and alcohol.
Guilds and Factions
Commerce of the city is dominated by the guilds, each has a Guildmaster who automatically gains access to the Kings Council. Those who practice a craft without guild license can never hope to get far in life. While not all professions legally require a guild license many of them do and a guild approved artisan will almost always be chosen over an unlicensed one.
Geography
The city of Brickerton was formed bordering a forest, river, and a group of hills. Now the forest has been pushed north by deforestation, the hills are full of stone and clay mining villages, the river has been swallowed by the expanding city and now dominates some of the lower districts.
Natural Resources
The city is now regularly replanting trees, lumber is exporting to some of the surrounding counties. The clay and stone are used to make bricks which most of the city is made out of. The river also provides a variety of trade and leads to the ocean.
