The Choir of Angels
The primary religious organization of Sviatol, the Choir preaches the blessings and teachings of the angels. Serving as the Angelic Host's representative and intermediary to the people, they are closely tied to these celestial beings and can even call upon their aid. The Choir is an elaborate and complicated organization of spell casters, holy warriors, and religious leaders that abide by a strict code of practices to form a clear hierarchical system. Each member attends to the specific duties of their position, but it is considered the responsibility of every choir-member to guide the faithful and to keep evil at bay.
Mythology & Lore
The Choir believes that the Angelic Host are being of light and purity that are sworn protectors of goodness and life. The angels descended from on high the the mortal plane in order to protect the faithful and righteous from the foul monsters that prey on the weak and innocent. When the angels first arrived, the faithful that saw their arrival upon the shore knelt and wept at the sight of their divinity. Those first fisherman, tradesman, soldiers and others became the first members of the Choir, for they soon burst out into song, praising their new guardians and carrying the newfound music in their hearts to others. The new faith soon spread across the Central Duchies and further beyond as the Angelic Host provided a bulwark against the darkness and evil of the world.
Divine Origins
Founded by those original followers who witnessed the arrival of the Angelic Host, the Choir spread quickly whilst accompanying the angels in the 1st Crusade. When the angels withdrew, their followers needed to reorganize their faith. They established themselves in the city where the angels first arrived, Graud, before renaming the city to Angel's Grace.
Cosmological Views
The Choir believes that the angels are divine beings from a higher plane that arrived to quell evil and protect others. Other faiths have suggested that the angels are being similar to giants, demons, elementals, or fey, that they are manifestations of magical energy given form and function. The Choir argues that the angels are different, and that it is instead their goal to wipe such chaotic and dangerous beings from the world in order to make it safe for the worlds peoples.
Tenets of Faith
The Choir preaches that in order to prevent evil, one must live a life of abstinence and restraint, to be hardworking and charitable, to act with wisdom and restraint, and that faith should upheld with fervor and conviction. Only through living by such tenets and obeying the dictates of the Choir can evil be forever routed from the world.
