Angel's Grace
Largest city in Sviatol, Capital of the old empire, and holy city of the Choir. Angel's Grace is home to a great many of the guilds and warrior lodges that date back to the city's second founding under Volhag, in addition to the somewhat younger monastic orders, priestly ministries, and crusader companies. Trade flows into the city along ancient trade routes as well as on the backs of pilgrims and migrants, but constant squabbling from the cities factions creates an unstable environment for merchants, hence most of the duchies trade being handled in Journey's End.
Demographics
Being a city of Sviatol, and headquarters of the Choir, the vast majority of the cities population are humans, with a sizable minority of halflings. Elves, gnomes, and the other fey races are treated with suspicion but are tolerated. Orcs and the more bestial races are openly mistrusted and are often the targets of hostility and violence. Tieflings or other creatures who display clear infernal or simlar markings are often arrested or captured on sight, at best.
Government
The cities central governing is officially handled by the local lords, but they are declared to be serving directly under the choir. Individual city districts tend to be led by whatever guild or organization calls that area home, but this is not always the best relationship for the district's inhabitants
Defences
While the walls of Old Graud still hold strong, the city has grown far beyond it's limit. However, only a fool or a madman would muster an army against a holy city protected by angels and every knightly order in the Ducal Realms.
Industry & Trade
Exports metal work produced in the city and goods brought in from nearby regions. Pilgrims and merchants also come seeking holy rites, whose coin cost inevitably finds it's way into the cities coffers.
Infrastructure
The roads, columns, and great structures of Old Graud hold strong and create a neat, almost grid pattern at the city center, docks, and foundry districts. The holy districts and sites are often spacious, with grand plazas and ornate, towering chapels. The other city districts, by contrast, are often cramped, disorganized, ramshackle, disorderly, and noxious, with cluttered shanty-towns built under the shadows of mansions and guildhalls, often resulting in fires and plague.
Assets
Since the days of Volhag, the city has been know for it's great forges and foundries, pouring forth weapons, armor, tools, and everything else civilized and metal. The city is now also known for divine healing and other magics that can be given in exchange for a sufficient church donation.
