The Iron March

The northern borders of the The High Kingdom are the only easy access to the land of the two rivers from F'erend'ar and the other lands of the north, and have therefore long been highly fortified as the key to the kingdom. Although the territorial claims of the High Kingdom extend beyond here, the combination of a great upland swampy moor, and the throat between the mountains make this the most obvious point to defend at for attacks from the north. The Iron March is the fief of the High Marshall of the High Kingdom. The capital of the Iron March is Ironwall, a huge fortress complex that dominates the northern pass.  Throughout history, armies from the north have broken against Ironwall like water.  It is said that the fields around it yield more iron than the richest of dwarven mines.
