Suffering. Pain. Death.
Look at us. Trapped in this endless cycle, doomed to fight and kill each other until the world burns out.
But it doesn't have to be that way. Believe me when I say this: we can save the world. We just have to save ourselves first.

As far as the previous inhabitants of the world go, these are split into two generations: the crossover generation and the lost generation.
The crossover generation are people who were alive during the Coalescence. They have seen the world as it was (Materis for the Materians or Dyrethreed for the Dyrus) and as it is now (Amalgia).
The lost generation are the people who came before the Coalescence and died before the tragic event ever came to pass. Named so because, much like those worlds, this generation is lost to time.
Materians and Dyrus who were born after the Coalescence are known as the bridged generation.
Whilst not a fancy name, it describes this generation of people well. The worlds of Materis and Dyrethreed have come together to form Amalgia and so the gap between these two civilisations has been bridged. It does have some alternate names, but they aren’t as popular with the common folk.
It’s kind of funny. For all our fighting and constant arguments, there are a handful of things that we can all agree on.
Like the name of this new world. Or what to call each of the generations - those we lost, those who remember, and those who have known nothing but Amalgia’s skies.
If only we could set aside some of our other differences…

The specific needs are going to vary depending on the group of people in question. And they’re going to vary a lot.
Remember those themes I keep mentioning?
Well, when it comes to violence and conflict, that means that the “needs” of some people are going to be the annihilation of another group. On the other hand, the people who “need” peace are going to want the other side to come to the table and communicate in good faith.
That’s just the icing on the cake too. I could list all the needs of the people that I could think of, but that would be a bit boring to read here, and also there wouldn’t be a lot of context to go with it.
So I’ll leave this for now with the caveat that the needs of the people will be further explored throughout the world building.
