Alternia

People

The History of Alternia so far

There used to be a rare caste of lime bloods, who were wiped out completely by the empire. There might be limes in hiding, who survived the culling of the caste, but little is known about them and what they were like. Adults used to live on Alternia, before ascension was made mandatory. These adults were, and some still are, ancestors. Ancestors and their descendants share a sign, and knowing about your ancestor is highly sought after. Sharing a sign also means sharing a core personality, which is why Trolls gather everything they can find on their ancestors.

Current Species & Cultures

Trolls are the main species inhabiting Alternia, they have various blood colors on a hemospectrum, which also determines their standing, abilities, lifespan, bodywarmth and potential future. They hatch and grow on the planet before ascension and go to space after. Among the trolls, the first culture are the lowbloods. This includes rustbloods, bronzebloods, goldbloods and olivebloods. These are the lowest class of Trolls, often in danger of being culled or generally taken advantage of by highbloods. Even amongst themselves is a bit of a hierarchy, rusts being the lowest. But none of them have it particularly well, as they're often poor and do menial tasks on-planet, only to be canonfodder off-planet. Next are the midbloods. Jadebloods, tealbloods and ceruleanbloods. It is assumed limebloods would have fit in here as well. These Trolls are somewhat more important to society, furthering the reproduction of trolls, or enforcing the law. Ceruleans often even get the chance to be captains of small fleets. There are high expectations placed on them, and oftentimes need to deal with unpleasant things. The highbloods are divided by landdwellers and seadwellers. The landdwelling highbloods are indigobloods and purplebloods. These are the most pristine Trolls in charge of furthering the art, culture and religion of Alternia. Indigos are encouraged to be secluded and focus on their art, while Purples are raised to be violent and bloodthirsty. Purples also oversee the landdwelling trolls, often keeping them in check. The seadwellers are violetbloods and fuchsiabloods. Not much is known about violets, although they are held in very high regard and belong to the upper class, often rich and leading the armies. Fuchsias are the rulers of Alternia, the current empress being Her Imperial Condescension, or the Condesce. Wanting to hold her position, she kills her descendants, the heiresses, which there are not many of. The second species are Lusii, the caretakers of the young Trolls before they are sent off to ascension. Every lusus shares a blood color with a troll, and they can only bond with one. Lusii come in all shapes and sizes, and they can communicate with their Troll, the first sounds they make being the name of them.

Needs & Relations

Rustbloods, due to being the lowest, don't want much. They are taught to serve and obey, or are just there to be culled without a thought. They don't have much sympathy for higher bloods. Bronzebloods often want safety and comfort, but are still very low, so often do not get this. They can treat Rustbloods like the servants they are, but can come together with them to critique the highbloods. Goldbloods have technological skill, their psionics often two-toned. They want to further their intellect, but are used as batteries for ships and therefore disregarded by highbloods. Olivebloods have a great connection to nature, lusii specifically. They can rough it in the wild and often want to further their strengths. They make ideal soldiers, but resent highbloods for mistreatment.. Jadebloods are motherly and caring, furthering the population and wanting the best for the little grubs in the caverns. They are often secluded in these caverns though and forced apart from the other castes. Tealbloods have a sharp whit and a love for the theatrical. They enforce the law, damning the guilty- and even the innocent. Some can get a bit conflicted over that fact, but all can agree that the high standards for their studies are opressive. Ceruleans are cunning, and some even display telepathic abilities. They are resourceful and have quite the endurance, they love the thrill, but the expectation of them having to be violent is weighing on them. Indigos are smart and very talented, focusing on a way to further culture and art. They want to soak up all the knowledge they can on their topic, but the seclusion from the rest of Alternia can frighten them. Purples can be compared to clowns visually, but their demeanor is quite the opposite. They delight in bloodshed and have the power of chucklevoodoos, which can instill fear in anyone. They drink Faygo and honk verbally, yet their violent ways are forced upon them, many not wanting to take that path. They just want to spread the good word of the dark carnival. Violets have power and they seem very aware of that. If they want that power is still unclear, though being above others is enjoyed by them often. The empire's rules and expectations can sometimes weigh even them down, though. Fuchsias either seem to like ruling violently, or despise it. Those who want the violence love ruling, those who don't want it seem to empathize with the rest of the Trolls. The latter will often be killed by the former though. Lusii are animal-like, but also parental figures. They care for and guide the Trolls and the Trolls care for their Lusus in return.
