The Captain of The Flying Mackerel is known throughout Altaros. His legendary tales as the most famous Skypirate are the salt and bread of every self-proclaimed minstrel. The stories of his renegade deeds of helping the poor and battling the corrupted people everywhere has both inspired many, but also make some wonder if Captain Blackclaw is even a real person. Still, Captain Blackclaw is told to be one of the secret benefactors of the Aberronian resistance movement, which consist mainly of ex-slaves and fugitives, who fight against the common Aberronian law. Some even consider Captain Blackclaw as the leader of the Resistance.  The Resistance movement has done some good in the periphery on grassroot level; they've built schools, wells and houses in the poorest and less-inhabited parts of Aberronia, but also protected the poorest people from slave-traders.

He's said to be a handsome tabaxi, graceful enough catch the interest of all sexes, despite even his blind eye who he covers with a patch.

Personal history

The stories tell that Captain Blackclaw -then Just Blackclaw- was born in a small tabaxi community near the border of The Emerald Wilds, but he was taken as a slave into Aberronia when he was just a cub when the slave traders pillaged the village where he lived with his family. He grew up in Aberronia but the time he spent in slavery did not break him. When he was adolescent,  one day he managed to escape with a few friends and the remnants of his clan. That was when his life as a some kind of folk hero began. He wanted to help other people who were still oppressed or otherwise in a bad situation. It happened a bit surprisingly, but one day out in the desert of The Old Sea he found a crashed down airship. With his friends he became to build it back up, and after some adventures and getting useful information, they managed to get it flying and took on the lifestyle of a skypirate. The small vessel was called the Flyfish and it served them well, until it crashed and burned during one conflict with a well-armed merchant ship bound to Madovar. They managed to find a wounded dwarven engineer, though, who had previously worked with The Skyfleet The Dwarf promised to help them after they had tended to his wounds. It took some time to get a proper ship going, but when the Flying Mackerel was finally ready, it was quite a sight:  its shiny metallic sides resembling a mackerel's scales are the best identifying feature of the famous airship.

Captain Blackclaw is said to be a charming tabaxi, who can both converse on educated poetry but also be at home in the ship's mess with his crew. He has charmed both daughter and sons of important lords and rulers.
