Thomas Gwent

Bio

Thomas Gwent is a wanderer. He wanders across the coast of Alt-Andalus, never really staying in one place for longer than a couple of years. Though, he has a fondness for the ocean, so he's been partial to the southern cities of Hilaelean culture. He even partook in Jai'a, solidifying his faith in the Luminous One. However, he's well past his prime, and has been in Tahwil for three years now, the longest he's ever stayed in one place. He enjoys the large city; it makes him feel as if he is still wandering despite never going beyond its borders.

Thomas keeps to himself, but enjoys the casual conversation that comes with wandering the city's streets. Meeting new people has always been one of his favorite activities. He'll often ask them for a story from their life, whether it be a personal experience or something they've heard from another. Thomas then adds that story to his precious journal, his most prized possession, with a small note of both the name of the person who shared the story and small notes Thomas makes. In this same journal, he also records his own anecdotes whenever he experiences something that he wants to remember.

One of his favorite stories was from a woman he met long ago. Her name was Ileena, and she has the honor of being the first story he was ever told. She told him of a time long before humanity landed upon Alt-Andalus. A time of peace, serenity, and natural beauty. There existed a beast known as the Moon Stag. It called all of Alt-Andalus its home, and was said to be a divine sight. Ileena said the Moon Stag got its name because of its antlers. They curved upwards, forming symmetrical semicircles of pure white bone as they nearly touched at their tips. It's said that during a full moon, the Moon Stag will look upwards, capturing moonlight in its antlers. Then, as the moon went through the rest of its phases, the stag would funnel the light into its body, reinvigorating itself and giving it a longer life. When humans stumbled into Alt-Andalus, the Moon Stag went into hiding. It's rumored that if you can harvest the Moon Stag's antlers while its charged with moonlight, you can gain immortality. Thomas was enamored by this story when he heard it, and Ileena seemed to take delight in his enthusiasm. However, despite the joy he felt from the story, his personal note was about Ileena. When he thinks back to that night, he swears Ileena's eyes gleamed with pure light as she told him the story under the full moon...
