Yurik Lok

Yurik Lok is a young man who resides in the Waziya, the area between the Shrouded North and the South in Ąpawičhak’ya. It's just him and his father; he lost his mother in one of the many conflicts between the Hilaeleans and Astorians. She was a soldier in Commander Fir's army. Before the battle, they lived in a nice house in the main city. His father was a well respected artisan who created highly sought after pieces of clothing. His mother was often away at one of the multiple military bastions, but would come be home at night. They would all gather for a nice dinner every night.    When his mother was called upon to fight, she did her best to prepare them all for the worst case scenario. The Hilaelean kingdom of Madhiba was already on its way out, but there were a couple of last stands that needed to be dealt with. Yurik's mother tried to make sure they didn't worry, Yurik himself was still just a child. He couldn't help himself from crying at the sight of his mother's back as she rode off to fight. His father did his best to console him, but even he could not stop tears from falling. Weeks passed and she hadn't returned. Finally, they received a letter from Commander Fir informing them of her death.    Yurik's father could barely hold it together enough to console Yurik. The two were broken from the news. It took them several weeks before they even began to feel better. But they were forever changed. His father was constantly worried about Yurik, ensuring that he was careful in even the most mundane of tasks. Eventually, his father made the decision to leave the main city. He was worried that they were too close to the danger, and that Waziya was known for its defensive position so they'd be safe there. Yurik was hesitant to agree, but his father was insistent enough the Yurik eventually gave in. The two packed their things and moved to Waziya.   Their transition was much easier than they expected. Since it's a very secluded city, it wasn't hard for them to find lodging. His father's skills in clothing creation came in handy since the people of Waziya made most of their goods out of fur and cloth, and Yurik began to learn the trade as well. Within a few years, they became accustomed to living in Waziya, and were known by other citizens. They are happier now, and have come to terms with the loss of Yurik's mother. But they still remember her. Yurik wears a small necklace at all times. It's a thin silver chain necklace with a small crystal at the end of it. It was the last thing his mother gave him before she passed, and he wears it to cherish her memory every day.
