Champion Lenk (a.k.a. The Silent Warrior)

Lenk is the adopted nephew of Jo and Marri Soren. At the age of seventeen he joined the Hiland Grand Army to combat the invasion of Scourge and was appointed as the personal knight to Princess Gwen by the royal decree of High King Alpha. Lenk and Gwen journyed to the four other realms in Hiland to unite the Zorra, the Gorguns, the Seltiks, and the Valkary in the war against Scourge.

A formidible warrior, Lenk's Flurry Rush attack is his signature move in battle, and after being chosen by Eloh to weild the the Master Sword he is all but unbeatable. Lenk is also known for his silent and stoic demeanor, rarely speaking aloud and relying on subtle head nods and eyebrow movements for bare minimum communication. Those who are lucky enough to hear him speak his mind are surprised by the softness of his voice, not like the hard, rugged warrior he is famed to be.

Appearance and Personality

Lenk's warm brown eyes are unusual for his dirty blonde hair and fair skin. His face is almost indecernable to his acquaintances and even those closest to him have trouble reading his emotions. "It's a skill," Lenk is rumored to have said, "a skill to protect the people I love from the demons I face. Nothing can scare you if you don't show fear."

Within the stone-faced, fearless soldier, Lenk is a kind and loving soul. His sense of duty to protect and defend the helpless stems from his desire to do good in the world. Despite this, Lenk finds it hard to help strangers at random. He would willingly risk his life to protect the people he loves and the people of Hiland, but he is reluctant to help with seemingly trivial problems because he sees himself as above that level of service.

Personality wise, Lenk is a no-nonsense get-things-done overachiever. He rarely sets his mind to a task without finishing what he set out to do. He is laser focussed to the point of obsession, but he also knows the importance of relaxation.

Gifted with an extremely sensitive sense of hearing, Lenk is able to echolocate as well as see visually.

Lenk is the main character. He lived as a middle class denizen in the town of Buckton, but rose to prominance as the Princess Gwen's personal knight because of his remarkable combat skills. He travels with Gwen and saves her life on multiple counts as they journey on their quest to save Hiland. He used to be very lively and carefree, but the threat of the Scourge and his responsibility of protecting the Princess have hardened him into a silent stoic. He falls in love with Opal but is torn between his feelings for her and his duty to the Princess and the kingdom.

He secretly possesses the power of the Eloh just like the princess, but he is unaware of his power. It lies dormant within his soul, waiting for Lenk to invoke it in the most dire of circumstances.

Lenk is Gwen’s brother. When he and Gwen were young, Alpha took them from their mother and brought them through the multiverse to his realm of Amazon. Alpha could sense that Lenk and Gwen carried the power of Eloh and feared they would learn of his plot to enslave the world. Alpha wiped Lenk and Gwen's memories before seperating them, placing Lenk in the care of a young couple by the names of Jo and Marri to keep him under supervision whil taking Gwen into his direct custody. Alpha wished to corrupt the siblings and use their divine power to help him on his conquest. When Jo learned of Alpha's intentions, he took Lenk to live far away from Alpha in an attempt to protect him from the demon king's evil influence. By doing so, Jo removed Lenk from Alpha's corrosive pressence but Alpha maintained constant supervision on the young boy and made small interventions during his childhood to ensure they followed the path he wanted for them.

Lenk grew up with his foster parents who insisted he call them aunt and uncle. Under Alpha’s orders, they taught him that his parents had died and they had rescued him. They were kind guardians and treated Lenk like their own son.

As Lenk grew up he had reccuring dreams of a woman sitting on the porch of a house, telling him stories and giving him meals. These dreams were not dreams at all, but the memories Alpha had attempted to erase resurfacing in Lenk's sleep. He sometimes shared these dreams with Jo and Marri but they could make no sense of it, and so lenk passed them off as childhood fantasies.

Lenk has numerous flashbacks triggered throughout his quest, each one revealing more of his true past. He has especially vivid memories of his mother and the stories she told him. Eventually Lenk realizes that he and Gwen were taken from their mother by Alpha and had their memories altered. Alpha’s technology was unable to permanently wipe their memories, allowing for Lenk’s flashbacks.

Lenk is musically talented. He likes to sing and is talented with the piano. He can also play decently on the violin and flute.

Physical Description

Physical quirks

Lenk has a scar on his abdomen which he believes is a deformity. Two of his ribs are bent oddly into his body. He believes he was born this way but it is actually a scar from an injury he sustained when Alpha kidnapped him and Gwen. His skin is perfectly fine but the two ribs were broken while he was still young and never set back properly, thus they healed in an odd shape leaving a 'dent' in his ribcage.

Lenk feels responsible for Gwen as her royal guard and does everything he cn to protect her and follow her requests. He is also in love with Opal and will do anything for her.

Identity

Lenk identifies himself as a knight and warrior who will do great things. This makes him unsatisfied with his childhood as a farm boy and drives him to do dangerous things. This also makes him try to be kind and helpful to others the way he believes a true knight would be. However, this makes him suppress his feelings and keep his worries inside him because he believes a real man does not show weakness by talking about their struggles with others.
Lenk identifies himself as thoughtful. This makes him think through things carefully and thoroughly before doing anything.
Lenk identifies himself as slow of speech and shy. This makes him afraid of speaking to others.
Lenk identifies himself as a musician and an artist. He enjoys making music on his flute and violin and likes to play the piano. He also likes to draw portraits of people. This makes him develop these talents and he is very good at them. However, his identification as a knight and warrior make him suppress these activities because he thinks a real knight doesn’t spend time drawing and playing music. This creates internal conflict in him.

Lenk struggles with loneliness and depression. He feels that he must bear every burden he carries alone. He has a reputation he must uphold and expectations to meet so he can’t show any weakness. He worries that he will disappoint the people he loves and what they will think of him if they knew what he was struggling with and the ways he copes with those struggles, so he is afraid to ask them for help. He just wants to be a good son and do what’s right.
He also struggles with trusting others, especially women. He trusted many young women with his heart and feelings but they were too immature to care for his trust properly and ended up scaring him for the rest of his life. He understands that he was also acting immature by trusting those girls with such sensitive information but that can not reconcile the hurt and distrust that runs deep within him.
