Clarinda is the second born daughter of Duke Glenn Barwald and the first born child of Jenina Barwald. Her early years were filled with joy and happiness as she had both parents, but after her mother's death her father became less part of her life, and she was mostly raised by her siblings. She was given much freedom because of this and never received a proper education. In the year A4 649, she was married away to Dha’rio Lamachett by her father as part of a land trade. She was also forced to take his name by her father as he was a lord in Daharia and soon to become lord of Brinehold. She didn't like him at first but over the next few years they grew closer and eventually had a child together named Salem Lamachett.
