Jenina was born into the Mangerald noble family. The Mangerald family is a lesser noble family from Fangorn. She was the second born daughter to her parents. She was a very artistic child and was given private teachings in art and painting during her youth. When she was 29 she met Duke Glenn Barwald in Fangorn a few months after his fathers funeral. The two started talking and fell in love within the year. She moved to Cherfest with Glenn and married at the end of the year. Together they had two children, Clarinda and Avent. However, Jenina became sick only a few years after Avent was born. No physicians could heal her and her time was coming to an end. Her last week was spent with her family in Cherfest before dying, Glenn, however, was paralyzed by grief and didn't leave her side for a week after her death.
