Lunnacht

The festival in the The Swamplands and beyond that celebrates the moon, Lunn

History

Started long ago, said to date back to the days of the ancient Kesson people who migrated across the continent of Allatar(location:11d21bea-560e-4c07-afa7-a57e15e16fc4), most eventually took up the religions of the @[The Seven Divines and forsook the older rituals and spirit worship.    For some reason, this one festival remains, most strongly observed by the people of the Swamplands.   However, the Kesson were not the only people to observe the ritual, the Lizardfolk of the swamps have also been seen to behave in a very similar manner on the night of the first full moon of the year.

Execution

Once night falls on Lunnacht, people gather in the centre of their village or town. They sing and eat, remembering the dead and thinking about their place in the world.    Candles are lit from a central bonfire, and people light the candles of their loved ones and neighbours, and tell them something they are grateful for. At the end of the nights celebration, all of the candles and the bonfire are extinguished at once, letting the light of Lunn shine down on everyone gathered.

Components and tools

A large bonfire, candles for each participant, food, which traditionally includes honeyed spicebuns with a white circle baked on top

Observance

On the first full moon of the year, it is said to be Lunnacht, that night is a time for reflection and for remembrance.
