Weredragon

Weredragons are a sub-species of werebeasts and are similar to werewolves. They are creatures that can shift into a dragon form and a human  form.

At the tender age of 16, weredragons are allowed to start looking for a mate. In the weredragon community, they only have one mate for the rest of their lives. With that in mind, it's crucial for a weredragon to be careful in choosing a mate.

History

Weredragons are a rare subspecies of werebeasts. At first, they mostly inhabited Iunia and Apral in Zostron before migrating throughout the continent. When the civilizations on each island in Zostron were trying to figure out how humans, weredragons, and dragons could live together in harmony, they collectively decided to make the weredragons the ones to lead them as they are a species that could be both dragon and human and can speak to them in their respective languages. Amongst the weredragons, they choose one family/clan to lead everything to remove any possible confusion on which person they need to listen to. On the biggest island in Zostron, the humans, weredragons, and dragons decided it would be best for there to be two people in charge of the civilization on the island. One would lead the east half of the island and one for the west half of the island. After one major war, the majority of the human population in Zostron became extremely uneasy with werebeasts. So, the weredragons in Zostron came up with a plan. When the humans, weredragons, and dragons were first starting to live together in harmony, the weredragons shifted when it was needed; more often than not when they were needed in a diplomatic issue between humans and dragons. 

By the time the first few generations of humans have passed away, the humans in Zostron - besides the ones involved in politics - rarely see the weredragons shift into their dragon forms. Most humans believed they were immortals or a kind of species with a long lifespan. So, sometime after the war had ended, the weredragon ruler of each kingdom in Zostron made a declaration they'll step down as ruler and hand over the throne to a close 'human' friend who was gifted a long lifespan as they'll make the kingdom better and help settle the doubts in humans when it comes to werebeast. The 'human' friend of each of the country's rulers had chosen to replace them was another weredragon they trusted who was also involved in the country's politics. As they were giving out the announcement of stepping down as ruler, they also sent out a notice to only the weredragons that reside within Zostron. A notice of their last decree for all weredragons, and for all other werebeasts as well. While humans hold doubts about the werebeast species as a whole, it is vital for them to never shift in front of them ever again. To ensure each dragon can recognize each other in human form, each weredragon has to wear a special pendant or jewelry that was made specifically for them to wear while they are outside their homes. The same goes for any other werebeasts that lives or is visiting any country in Zostron.
