Well of the Water Wyrm
A grand lake, known for its prosperous fishing, lying between The Kingdom of Harnell and The Confederacy of Jodan. As part of the peace treaty between the two countries, they agree to share the lake and have no military institutions or forces on its waters. While there is some trade that goes between the two sides, mostly from the smaller fishing villages and towns that border it, there is still a lot of tension between them.
The Lake is named such after an ancient water dragon that made its home in the lake.
Geography
The Well of the Water Wyrm was formed shortly after the arrival of The Dragon Queen into what would become The Kingdom of Harnell. A great blur of silver and blue crashed into The Giant's Wall, destroying miles and miles of the land, as well as a portion of the wall. The crater (miles and miles across and as deep as a small sea), soon filled with water, turning it into a magnificent lake, ruled over by The Water Wyrm. Unconcerned with conquest and the agenda of the Dragon Queen, The Water Wyrm instead decided to focus itself on creating a kingdom for itself in the lake, opening portals and the like to other waterways across the world, allowing a diverse grouping of aquatic life to form a new home in the lake.
As the Dragon Queen went to war against the giants and enslaved the human people of the region, The Water Wyrm expanded his control of the lake, slaying giants and other monsters that dared to encroach upon his new home. He soon also extended his control to the villages and towns about the lake, demanding tithes of gold and treasure for his horde from the humans. Beautiful woman would often be taken into the lake by The Water Wyrm's minions, never to be seen again. Legends say that at the bottom of the lake there is a great palace, underwater and dragon sized, housing his horde.
Scholars disagree on what happened to The Water Wyrm following The Brothers War. Most scholars assume he was slain during the conflict, though they are unable to point to any specific battle where he was seen. Some people believe he still dwells at the bottom of the lake, and that rough waters and storms on the lake are an extent of his anger toward humanity. Regardless, he hasn't been seen since the war.
