Melandru Character in Alendia | World Anvil

Melandru

Melandru is the goddess of nature in the The Pantheon of the Twelve-Gods. She met withRondra in Durarin in 9658 b. BF, after his request for access to the Pale Tree was denied. She was added to the pantheon in 8770 b. BF by King Magnus and replaced Talvin's role.

Appearance

Melandru's appearance is one of the most controversial out of all Twelve-Gods. Usually, she is depicted as a Human woman with red or brown hair, dressed in light priest-like robes. However, many elves claim Melandru to be not human but anElf and additionally draw her wearing traditional clothes worn by priests of elves. However, in both cases, Melandru is shown as a graceful, elegant person with a deep connection to nature. Her most common characteristic traits are wisdom, inner peace, and prudence.

Biography

Overview

Melandru was raised and born in Durarin (which often leads to the assumption that she indeed is an elf). She became a priestess of the Pale Tree andThe Mother around 9700 b. BF. She met with Rondra at the Pale Tree after he wasn't allowed to enter the holy place. Rondra attempted to convince Melandru to join him and Ker, hoping to resurrect 'The Divine Four'. But Melandru denied that request, saying her purpose is to serve only The Mother, which she did for her whole remaining life.
She was added to the Pantheon in 8770 b. BF, due to the discovery of Rondra's journals. Rondra describes Melandru as a greater powerful creature, which King Magnus took as justification to ascend to her a diety.

Influence

Melandru is a so-called Temple God, which means there is no church dedicated to Melandru, but her worshippers regularly gather in temples for prayers. Most of her temples stand either on the very edges of the outskirts of a city or even outside the city in forests or open fields. Especially peasants and farmers dedicate their prayers to Melandru, asking for fertile grounds and profitable harvests. Compared to the other Twelve-Gods, Melandru is next to Rondra the most worshipped god among elves. Many old elven temples were dedicated to her after the Elves accepted the The Pantheon of the Twelve-Gods.
