The Mother
The Mother is an ancient mythical creature living in the Pale Tree. She holds the source of nature's magic and is said to be the creator of Elves.
After the defeat of the Decay in 15117 b. BF, the Mother isolated herself, sensing the betrayal of the Drow, since she didn't want to side with only one kind of her children. Only in 5071 b. BF she cursed the Drow as the matriarch Velmys tried to poison the waters and the Pale Tree. The mother magically poisoned all rivers, lakes, and even the water of the ocean around the coasts of the Drow, sending a vision to all Drow, that the curse will be taken off, only if Velmys receives her rightful punishment.
History
Overview
It is said, that the mother entered the world of Alendia in 17400 b BF. She was sent by the gods of the old pantheon as their champion to fight against the creatures of chaos. Despite her unimaginable power, she was outnumbered by the forces of chaos and was forced to retreat from the Mahlstrom. She created the Pale Tree in 17100 b. BF as her fortress and counterpoint to the power of the chaos magic. In 16359 b. BF, she created the Elves , creating them as soldiers and warriors to help her fight the chaos. Just a few of them were granted magical knowledge. With the rise of The Elder Dragons in 16341 b. BF, the Mother entirely retreated to the Pale Tree. While the elves were fighting The Decay physically, she supported her children by protecting their dreams from the corruption of the Elder Dragon. Since that point, it is said the Mother never left the Pale Tree again, communicating with the most important elves telepathically.After the defeat of the Decay in 15117 b. Personality
The Mother shares a lot of characteristics and ideals of elves. She is long-living, has a slender build and it is said, that she has sharp ears and very light skin and hair. She wields powerful magic, stronger than all other mortal mages can do. The Mother is described as one of the wisest and most powerful creatures in Alendia. Despite all her power and magic, she lives isolated in the Pale Tree and only rarely influences the world of Alendia actively. Many creatures see her as some kind of a prophet or herald of the elder gods and believe, that the Mother sends the visions to Lauden's Oracle.The Pale Tree
The Pale Tree stands in the center of Durarin surrounded by holy waters. It stands on elven territory close to the border of the Drow and is home to The Mother. Like the Mahlstrom, it is a source of magic, namely nature magic. It stands up to a thousand feet, overshadowing the trees close around it. The Pale Tree does not belong to any elven or drow faction and rather stands independent. It is guarded by the Pale Guard, chosen elite guards of the Mother, which ensure security and peace around the Pale Tree. Only very few creatures get access to the Pale Tree (about 1 in 1000 years), so The Mother can stay isolated and uncorrupted.
