Cairharn

Cairharn is one of The Five Nations located in Western Aldora. The second largest of The Five Nations, Cairharn boasts a diverse landscape of open farmland, fertile rivers, towering mountain ranges, and lush woodlands. Outside of the natural landscape, Cairharn is known for its sprawling metropolises, full of bustling trade and industry, and littered with organized crime.   The Lightning Rail orginated from the capital city of Cairharn and has since sprawled to every corner of The Five Nations.   After The Last War, Cairharn emerged as one of the most powerful of The Five Nations, rivaled perhaps by Ayrindor.

Structure

King Boranel ir'Wynarn rules Cairharn in conjunction with an elected Parliament. Though Boranel is a very popular leader, lauded for his exploits inThe Last War, his children have shown little aptitude for leadership, so there is a growing movement advocating for abandoning royal rule after when King Boranel ir'Wynarn passes away.   Most cities and towns enjoy a fair amount of independence, electing their own leaders and paying only a small tithe to the King.   Almost equal in power to the King and Parliament are the various Crime families festering in the massive cities of Cairharn. These crime groups ostensibly control almost every facet of industry and local governance, often positioning those who support them into positions of greater power through subterfuge, assassination, and blackmail. The most notable crime families are as follows:   Though these are the most notable, small-time crime lords looking to increase their station in the world are ubiquitous.

Culture

Cairins don't share the devoted lifestyles of the people of Tere, nor the lofty arrogant attitudes of those of Ayrindor. Instead, Cairins are known for the pragmatism, cynicism, and self-independence. The excel at finding innovative solutions for problems, and rooting out the plans of others with subterfuge and intrigue.   The Cairin aptitude for pragmatism extends to almost all ways of life. You won't find many Cairins donning rich fabrics or indulging in fancy meals
