Walker Castle

Walker Castle is a castle built on the cliffs above the town of Oates in central Novyum, on the major continent of Ethae. It stands just southeast of the town.
The castle began life as a watch town, built by the Lakortha at the height of the Republic of Lakorth as a protection for the precious Iron mines of Oate Mountain. The stone tower, along with the town of Oates below, was largely forgotten after the decline of the Republic. The Novyum saw the town of Oates repopulated and the mines producing once more, but the town remained empty, just a ruin on the cliffs.
It eventually became infested with monsters that occationally came down and caused havoc to the people of Oates. Thankfully the survivors of the Corps of the Oath (later known as Walker's Wardens) stubbled into the town. They formed up as an adventuring party and cleared the tower of the creatures. This marked the first adventure of the Wardens.
Talk of demolishing the ruins circulated the town in mid 6855sc, when Walker's Wardens were passing through, as they often did. Fears of reinfestations of the town were the talk of the taverns during that year. The Wardens pooled their coin and purchased the tower and its land, as a home base in the town they often frequented between adventures. The tower was refurbished and expanded. Years later the Wardens would build their estate house nearby.
The Castle is made up of two main buildings on a flat outcropping of the cliffside. The first is what the Wardens call the 'Battle Tower,' though it is largely used for storage. It was the groups original home, and its founding members still maintain rooms within, even though they usually call their rooms in the 'Estate House' home. The 'Estate House' was built in 6871sc when several original members retired. It is far more luxurious and comfortable a dwelling than the tower. A small staff of servants also live here.
The castle is difficult to reach, with only a winding narrow footpath leading up it along the cliffside that can be easily seen from the castle. A small herd of Hippogriff dwell on the castle grounds as personal mounts to the Wardens.
