Diviner
Wizards of Divination
A diviner is a type of Wizard that focuses their study of the Anon (Magic) towards understanding reality itself. They search for knowledge of the future and past. They see beyond the world and the physical limitations of the body. Diviners look for foreknowledge, seeing remote places to gain experience, and try to connect to the reality of Beyond Aldern to gain insight.
Of the wizarding classes, diviners have been under the most scrutiny of the Church in the past century. The nature of the magic, and it not being considered of divine origin by religious zealots, has elevated the rising persecution of diviners. These persecutions have largely been verbal assaults on the diviner's character and nature, rather than anything violent. At least in the the Heartlands. In fringe locations, such as the religiously zealous Slavyum, however, a trend for violence has grown. Some of these are even government or church sanctioned.
The famous college of Divinare in Lakorth is the leading school for diviners in Ethae. Its doors have been open for over two thousand years, and the school has produced, not only diviners, but nearly every great wizard in modern history.
Diviners traditionally favor the Rod as their magic conduit. Rods often move away from the natural woods used to create a wand or staff, using metals such as Copper or a copper-based alloys instead. A Gem or other conduit item can also be easily added to the rod, augmenting the casting ability of the wizard.
