Maddok pen
Maddok pens are a writing instrument and multi-tool popularized by the Maddokes people, used by researchers and archaeologists as a means of self protection and record-keeping. It utilizes a combination of the metalpoint process which was rediscovered by the Temple of Sadorn, and the plastic-making technology of the Temple of Formaldehyde. The Maddokes began creating designs for pens using the least amount possible, and the low-cost but high efficiency of the pen then spread across Sealtland and Pestilentia. It is considered the default writing instrument of the wasteland tribes.
The pen consists of two parts:
The functional metalpoint portion, a silver tip
The barrel, which contains travel-size weaponry and tools
Common tools include a file, short and long cutting blades, wirecutters, screwdriver, and saw. Some are purported to carry poison in them as well, and much folklore has been developed using Maddock pens as a cursed item or weapon.
The function of the pen has gone from purely functional to both ceremonial and cultural artifacts. Many of the wasteland tribes use them as marriage gifts, or earn them in coming-of-age ceremonies. The design and craftsmanship of the pen highly depends on the person and the tools and ergonomic design varies from person to person. Many people in Lodonesia and the old Hanoez empire made attempts to patent and manufacture them, but could never come up with a design for mass consumption.

The metals silver, lead, and tin are required in order to create the metalpoint portion of the pen. The barrel portion of the pen is often made of a mix of thermoplastic and cheap metal, to reduce the cost and need to rely on trading for silver and tin.
