Temple of Formaldehyde
The Temple of Formaldehyde is a religious group and guild who worship the deity Nod, who they view as the deity of breath and combustion. Their interest lies in the research and industrial implementation of Nod's girft- the element formaldehyde.
They initially started as an experimental sect of the Clockmakers, built on Myacoris territory in the region of Pestilentia. It was reported due to the high need for land within Pestilentia allowed the Myacoris to grow quite wealthy quickly and become a more threatening presence in the growing Republic of Lodonesia.
The temple's illicit project was on the preservation and study of corpses, something quite sacrilegious as the Belenakos believe you are only truly reborn when your body decomposes. Many criminals and slaves were experimented on. They developed an advanced corpus on the human body's reaction to other species and pollutants, as well as recovered some lost information on antibiotics and vaccines.
After they lost funding, they were in turn picked up by the Hanoeth in the 4th Century CE and became part of the declining empire, with Hanoez adopting Formaldehyde as one of its approved and funded religions.
The Guild developed good terms with others who would eventually become the Lost Druwits such as the Order of Camphor and Benzoin.
