Air Elemental
Whispers made flesh, Air Elementals are beings of pure motion and sound—formless yet present, invisible yet impossible to ignore. They are born where wind sings in solitude: on storm-wracked peaks, in the howling silence between sky and sea, or within the sacred caverns beneath the world where breath first met the void. Each Air Elemental is a living current, a chorus of gust and gale that obeys no law but movement.
Their forms are nebulous and shifting, seldom maintaining a single shape for long. One moment they may resemble serpentine clouds with glinting eyes of lightning, and the next, a spiraling storm funnel with the shriek of a thousand winds. Their voices are rarely heard in speech, but rather in howls through mountain passes, murmurs across desert dunes, and the sudden hush that precedes a tempest. To some, their presence is exhilarating; to others, it is deeply unsettling.
Air Elementals are said to descend from the breath of Aetherial and the primal exhalation that gave rise to the skies. They are closest in kinship to the Titan Caelthys, the Boundless Roar, who commands the upper winds and the vast breathways between the peaks. Some air elementals revere Caelthys as a force of freedom and boundlessness, echoing his ancient fury in the cyclones and jetstreams that crisscross the heavens.
Though often perceived as untethered and carefree, air elementals are not chaotic without reason. They are guardians of flow, dispersal, and renewal, and their moods reflect the skies themselves: capricious and swift, but capable of great calm. When bound or conjured by mortal hands—whether by mages of Amoxis or druids of Galecrest—they are often tasked with watching from above, scouting far horizons, or carrying messengers faster than any hawk or steed. Yet such bindings must be handled with care, for a caged wind turns into a storm.
In the Stormcliff Heights and along the eastern reaches of Galecrest Valley, air elementals can sometimes be seen during Celestial tempests—faint spirals of light and vapor dancing like spirits across cliff edges and cloud-swept ridges. Sailors tell tales of air elementals rising to protect airships from falling, only to vanish as swiftly as they came. Others speak of wild air spirits that topple towers or rip banners from cities they deem unworthy of the sky's favor.
To many cultures of Aigusyl, air elementals represent freedom, revelation, and the unseen power that moves all things. To call one forth is to summon a portion of the world that has never known stillness—a being that cannot be held, only invited to stay. Whether whispering truths into the ears of dreamers or scouring mountaintops clean with unrelenting gales, an air elemental is not to be taken lightly. It is the living breath of the world—a soul without body, a sky without end.
