Nocturnal Needle Tattoos

Nocturnal Needle Tattoos is a tattoo parlor located in Ervardim, Naraciel Region, Mosvador. It is owned and operated by Sten Axelsson, a former Prismari student at the nearby Bruxaria University.   • Tattoo of Guarding – this tattoo must be placed around the hands or forearms, and includes lines and shapes resembling plates of armor. It can be done in any color. Once per day, you can use your reaction to send a pulse of magic through the ink of this tattoo in order to activate it upon just narrowly failing to avoid an attack. Doing so will increase your AC by 1 until the start of your next turn.
  • Tattoo of Starlight – this tattoo can be placed anywhere, but is best placed on areas of skin that are often exposed like the hands, neck, or head, and includes designs resembling constellations. It utilizes white ink and can only tolerate small amounts of additional pigment. This tattoo can be activated as an action a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus per day, causing the tattoo to glow and shed bright light in a 20-foot radius, and dim light an additional 20 feet.
  • Tattoo of the Serpent's Bite – this tattoo takes the form of a coiled serpent, typically wrapped around the wrist area but can also be applied near the ankles or at other locations. This tattoo can be activated once per short rest, allowing the user to add an additional 1d4 poison damage to one unarmed strike or attack with a natural weapon.
  • Tattoo of the Watchful Eye – this tattoo depicts an open eye surrounded by geometric patterns, and is best placed on areas of skin that are often exposed like the back of the hands, neck, or head. It can be done in any ink color. The tattoo may be activated once per day. Activating the tattoo allows the wearer to gain advantage on a perception check.
  • Tattoo of the Reverberating Chord – this tattoo contains designs resembling musical notes and clefs, and can be placed anywhere. It is typically done in bright, vibrant inks. Once per day, this tattoo may be activated to extend the range of one use of Bardic Inspiration by 10 feet.
  • Tattoo of Wild Renewal – this tattoo consists of a circular motif of plants and animals, and can be placed anywhere. Up to once per day when the owner reverts from wildshape to their natural form, they can choose to activate the tattoo and gain 1d4 hit points.
  • Tattoo of Gentle Restoration – this tattoo contains soft, wave-like patterns remniscent of water, and can be placed anywhere. It can be done in any ink color. This tattoo can be activated once per day while casting a spell or using a feature that heals another creature or themself. This allows the user to reroll one die used to calculate healing and use the higher result.
  • Tattoo of the Sacred Oath – this tattoo often contains a design resembling laurel leaves, but may be customized to fit the particulars of the owner's oath. This tattoo can be activated once per day when the owner uses Lay on Hands, increasing the healing by 2 hit points.
  • Tattoo of Soft-Stepping – this tattoo features woven, textile-like patterns inked in any color on the soles of the feet or near the ankles. This tattoo grants a +1 to stealth checks in non-combat situations.
  • Tattoo of Disruption – this tattoo consists of sharp, geometric patterns and can be placed anywhere. It is typically done in either plain black or white ink. The tattoo grants a +1 bonus to when the owner casts Counterspell or Dispel Magic and must roll to succeed.
All tattoos which require activation may be activated more often than is recommended, but doing so comes at a risk of blowing out the ink. When over-using a tattoo, roll a D20. On a result of 10 or lower, the ink is blown out and the tattoo no longer functions. On a result of 11 or higher, the tattoo is undamaged.
