Tombgrove
A forest sequestered by the Clustered Peaks and the Deadkeep Mountains. A layer of cloud rests above its treeline which thickens in the absence of sunlight. The forest is cursed by the quantity of fallen warriors buried with the roots. The volume of vengeful souls corrupts the vary soil, calling out to evil creatures and raising the skeletons of the fallen battalions that sleep to rise and roam the forest seeking battle.
Geography
A mass of tangling trees and long grass that spreads through the plain between the mountains. A sole shallow river runs southward through the roots. The ground is rough to walk through with long grass impairing visibility on trip hazards, such as upturned roots and half buried hearses.
History
The Tombgrove was originally known as the Lesser Blessed Furrow, due to its stream originating from Lake Zaliad. Initially the forest served as a sanctuary for the Veteri Order before they were ousted as devil worshipers and accused of tainting the holy waters. The buildings were repurposed by the Planar Entente during the Mortal Wars as a war camp, armory and burial ground. Half a decade into its reoccupation, necromantic energies begin spreading through the woods. Dark monsters began creeping from the murk and the fallen warriors began rising, seeking battle. Many elves, tieflings and gnomes were slain by their own battle brothers before they could evacuate.
Since that time, the forest floor has been obfuscated by fog and the entire area is overgrown with both plantlife and corrupted entities. It has not spread beyond its treeline, as though kept at bay. However the area has become dense with darkness that even shakes the nerves of acolytes.
