Clustered Peaks
This mountain is a treacherous climb that leads to numerous drops and hazardous ledges. Most of natural pathways and safer respites are lorded by the giants demanding tribute or denying passage outright. The winds threaten to blow travelers to a rocky fall, or freeze unprepared pilgrims to eternal rest. And unsavory monsters who live in the mountains feast on anything that moves.
Despite these numerous dangers however, people still attempt to climb to the tallest point of the mountain. In search of the enlightenment, for a Totem of Old sits at the highest ridge, singing into the winds and waiting for a lost soul to ask for guidance.
Geography
The base the Clustered Peaks is more horizontally inclined than the rest of its terrain. Water from the numerous springs flow down its side gather into pools and narrow paths between the scattered rocks before they all converge into the streams that flow towards the Pool of Atrocity.
The initial climb is not to be taken by a novice. Whilst appearing simple at first, there are numerous points in the treks that demand balance and athleticism; and while some of the falls have been made less fatal, the further up you go the less forgiving the journey becomes.
The foliage becomes scarce and winds billow to almost deafening volume once you reach 5000 feet. Traversing the mountain becomes its most dangerous as the paths become so narrow that many to climbing the rocks to safer purchases.
Localized Phenomena
Throughout the mountain, there are pointed ledges like rose thorns that jut out from the rocky paths. It is said that when a sunbeam shines upon these ledges, that those under its light will be speaking to the gods. Clergymen and arcanists who believe in this theory have supposedly found patterns to these moment of divinity and have attempted to form calendars; to better predict the arrival and timing of each moment that these ledges are lit.
