Mental characteristics
Personal history
Erik was born in Bedrock to a family of small time villains. His mother was the villainess Pyre, who was a laughingstock among the criminal world and even heroes. He was born with the power to superheat matter around him. Jonah was indoctrinated into the criminal lifestyle at a young age, earning a reputation not only for his power, but his high degree of intelligence and social aptitude. Being a part of one of the most unsuccessful criminal families had a deep impact on Erik growing up. His family was ridiculed and only earned respect through violence. Erik's father taught him this by beating a man to death in front of him and his younger brother Adam.
As Erik grew up, he was close with Adam, but over the years, the two grew apart through their differing ideals. Adam sought to use his powers to help others and eventually left the family to join Sentinel. Jonah was saddened and angered by his brother betraying their way of life. When the two reunited as adults, it seemed that all the bad blood between the two brothers was under the bridge. Their reunion was amicable and free of hostility despite their differing life paths. Adam was now a member of Sentinel and Jonah was a high ranking operative in the Morrison gang. Little did Erik know, his brother was using their reunion to take down their organization. Angered and feeling betrayed, Jonah fought his brother in a brutal confrontation that he eventually lost, but despite being free to take his life, Adam hesitated out of familial love. Erik took advantage of his mercy and killed his brother.
Horrified by this, Erik returned home to find it being raided by law enforcement. His mother praised him for doing what he did for the family. With his family and life falling apart, and his act of killing his brother who he loved dearly still fresh in his mind, Erik realized that all he did was to fight for a family who brought him nothing but pain and could never amount to anything. When law enforcement closed in, Erik ran off rather than fight, leaving his family to their fate. Consumed with self hatred, Jonah contemplated suicide, but ultimately decided against it. Erik turned his ire to Sentinel. He blamed the organization for marginalizing his family and leading to his brother's death. He decided that he wouldn't die a man who killed his brother and failed his family. He would forge his own empire and would destroy Sentinel and allow Bedrock to be free of their tyranny.
Sexuality
Erik identifies as demisexual, only experiencing sexual attraction after bonding with someone. He doesn’t have much personal interest in sex, but generally finds it pleasurable on the occasion he does, having little bias against any gender.
Employment
Jonah was a member of the Morrison Crime ring. For years, he's developed his own criminal organization which consists of businesses he owns and uses as money-laundering sites. Some of these include a trash disposal company, a bar and grill, and a real estate agency.

Intellectual Characteristics
Jonah is a skilled people person, and can read them with frightening accuracy. He's well cultured enough to navigate unfamiliar situations, and due to his criminal skillset, can adapt quickly. He has a complex mind suited for long term strategy, and can plan for most outcomes. He's receptive to people's thoughts and understands how to use psychology to motivate others into helping him.
Morality & Philosophy
Jonah has a cynical view of heroism, believing that doing the “right thing” at any cost is only good for getting yourself or everyone you care about killed. He sees pragmatism as the only true way to survive in the world and looking out for number one. Jonah does believe in loyalty if it’s earned and believes in rewarding it as well as harshly punishing disloyalty. He still has the mentality of a criminal and is willing to harm anyone to get his way and has no issue killing people, though he won't do so out of sadism. Jonah tends to see the world in a dog-eat-dog lens. While he's able to form close relationships with others, he will sacrifice those he's fond of to achieve his goals, albeit with some reluctance. For Jonah, those who consent to violent conflicts are fair game, and even civilian deaths are accepted as part of the "game." He does not believe in killing innocent people deliberately or senselessly and finds it to be poor taste.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Jonah seeks to destroy Sentinel and get rid of its presence in Bedrock. While he frames this as getting the heroes off his back, he has a deep hatred for the organization for "killing" his brother. He believes that Bedrock should be free of Sentinel's control, as it's the reason for Bedrock's suffering. His current objective is to become a Calamity himself to gain the authority he needs.

Jonah's generally apathetic about civilians being harmed by his actions, seeing it as an inevitability, which often comes across as cold despite the fact that he doesn't actively seek to harm innocents. Jonah hides his violent nature underneath a veneer of detached amusement. Deep down, the death of his brother causes him great turmoil and has severely harmed his ability to truely connect with others. He projects his guilt for his brother's death onto Sentinel for "turning" his brother against him, and will lash out at any who talk about his past. He constantly hides things from others out of a need for control. His apathy is mainly a psychological barrier from feeling the guilt that could come from his more dubious actions. Despite his supposed coldness, Jonah can often let his own sentimentality get the better of him.
