Amplification

An amplification is the term used to describe a mutation in a living organism, primarily humans. These mutations often lead to the development of superhuman powers.

Causes

Amplified humans have an "amp" gene that lets them manifest superhuman powers. The origin of this gene is highly debated among scientists and historians, but the prevailing theory was that during the dawn of human civilization, many of the crops that were grown were infused with the latent cosmic energy from an asteroid that impacted the planet hundreds of millions of years ago. Over generations, this changed the DNA of humans and other mammals, resulting in mutations that grant superhuman abilities.

Symptoms

Amplified humans generally possess much higher bone and muscle density which facilitates superhuman feats such as incredible strength. Amped human cells regenerate an an accelerated rate, allowing them to heal from injuries that would otherwise kill an average person. This also has the added benefit of greatly decelerating the rate in which a amplified human ages. Many amps can live for hundreds of years at most, and some can even reach over a thousand years old. The most variable sign of amplification is the ability to manifest superhuman powers. These powers are often esoteric, but share a common theme; enhancing or controlling some physical, mental, technical, biological, or chemical properity.
